“I’ll take you in the morning. How about we try and get some sleep and then maybe I’ll take care of you again. If you’re not too sore.”

I shake my head, smiling. “I could never be too sore for you.”

And with a smile I cuddle down into his big, warm body, his muscles shifting to cradle all my soft curves. Perfectly.

With a soft yawn, I let myself just drift off to sleep.

Only to wake up a few hours later when my phone rings. I pick it up and wince when I see that it’s Gemma.

“I know I should have called you to let you know I was alright.”

“Humph! I know you’re alright. But there’s something that happened that was a little strange. A guy in the place seemed to know you and he was pretty shocked to see you up there. He pulled out a phone and called some guy. I asked him what he was doing and he said the guy would be pissed to see Bitty up there. I said that wasn’t Bitty. And the guy answered and turns out she was there with him. But they both wanted to know who you are. And I told them and both of them were shocked. Her name is Bitty Sweet. Do you have a cousin or something that is your twin?”

“Neither of my parents have any brothers or sisters.” My head is reeling as I try to figure out what this means. The only things that make sense are so bad that I can’t even think it.

I thank her and hang up the phone. Sam’s concerned gaze is on me. “What’s wrong?”

“Some guy thought I was somebody named Bitty. He said I look exactly like her.”

He shrugs his broad shoulders and yawns. “So? Lots of people have a person that looks exactly like them. I do.”

That boggles my mind. That somewhere out there there’s a guy that looks exactly like Sam.

I shake my head. “That’s not all of it. Her name is Bitty Sweet.”

He jerks back and eyes me sharply. “You got a twin sister you don’t know about.”

I shake my head. “No way. And I don’t think that my father was ever married before. And apparently she’s pretty stinking close to my age.”

“I think you better talk to your parents about this. If you really want to know.”

I sigh and whisper, curling up on his chest. “I’m not sure I want the answer. I have a feeling I’m not gonna like it.”

He nods his head and kisses my forehead. “I get that. But is it important enough to know or can you let it go?”

I shake my head. “I can’t let it go. I can’t live knowing that there’s a girl out there who might be related to me. I really wanted a sister when I was growing up. And what if she is mine? I can’t forget that.”

“Then we’ll figure this out. I assume that was Gemma? Did she get a number or anything from them?”

“I don’t know. I was too shocked to ask.”

“Then that’s the first thing we’ll do in the morning.”

And I sigh and curl up against him, shivering. I don’t know what’s happening but I know that whatever it is it’s going to change my life. A lot.

CHAPTER7

Sam

The next morning, we head for her house after I call and talk to my boss. He understands and wishes me well.

“I sure hope you know what you’re doing!”

“Me too. But just so you know that guy might cause some trouble for you. He’s most likely gonna be pissed.

“That’s alright. We got the check already and I cashed it. No problems here.”

I chuckle and then tell him good-bye and hang up the phone. Lily still has a shell-shocked look on her face.
