Seeing him interact with Dominic after missing so many years was a balm to my heart, and I knew it was the same for him as well.

Seeing how far the two of them had become after being estranged was amazing.

"Yes, it truly is. Seeing him enjoy himself like this brings so much joy to my heart." I murmured, watching Dominic wave to the ducks who quacked and swam near the bank in curiosity.

I took a look around the park and how serene it was with people walking and minding their own business.

There were other families too who had come for some relaxation as well.

Seeing how nobody bothered us or even seemed to recognize us or make any fuss here was delightful in comparison to all the fuss and buzz the paparazzi and media had made.

"This place is so peaceful,” I said as a passing remark.

Dante squeezed my hand in response.

Throughout the day, Dante's presence provided a comforting reassurance.

He held my hand, his touch a source of strength, reminding me that we were in this together.

His warm smile and words of encouragement echoed in my heart, alleviating any lingering worries and doubts.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow across the city, we made our way back home, hearts full of memories.

The day was enjoyable as it allowed us to temporarily escape the pressures of reality.

As we tucked Dominic into bed that night, his little face peaceful in slumber, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude.

In that quiet moment, I realized that Dante's decision to take us out for the day had been a gift.

I knew that together, we could face whatever lay ahead and that our family bond would always be our greatest strength.

Feeling parched, I left Dante in Dominic’s room and headed to the kitchen to get a cup of water, but on getting there, I was surprised to see Isabella standing by the counter with a mug in her hand.

“Oh!” I exclaimed in surprise. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

I hadn’t seen Isabella lately, but I knew it was due to some mafia business.

Dante didn’t tell me much about his business, which I was grateful for as I still felt queasy about the whole mafia business, but he did tell me tidbits when I started seeing less of him around.

“Oh, hello. It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen each other in a setting where it was not a passing glance. Why don’t we sit down and catch up?” She said, gesturing and moving toward the dining table.

As awkward as I felt around Dante’s mother, I couldn’t refuse, so I followed suit and sat down, fiddling with my fingers.

As Isabella sat across from me, a polite smile gracing her lips, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of discomfort.

There was something about her piercing gaze that made me wary.

“Where’s little Dominic?” She asked.

“Oh, he’s already asleep. Dante is with him.” I answered, eyes bouncing around the kitchen.

“He must have been tired out from your outing today.” She offered a small smile. I chuckled awkwardly, not sure where the conversation was going.

“You can imagine how surprised I was when I learned about Dante having a son, let alone a three-year-old son. It was a shock.”

I grimaced quietly. So, we were going to address this at last?

I had always feared being confronted by Isabella about his son.
