Cousin Leo hugs me hard and congratulates me and Uncle Roberto gives me a check for five grand.

I grin. “It won’t bounce, will it?”

He snorts. “Hurry up and cash it before Etta catches on,” he whispers, speaking of his shopaholic wife.

I laugh and Mia heads out on the dance floor to dance with her father. I watch them for a long moment, thinking that they have a very close relationship and feeling guilt hot at the back of my head.

I make my way toward the bar, getting a glass of champagne and gesturing to Mia to come over and help me cut the cake.

As is tradition, she slams it in my face and we both burst out laughing as I do the same to her. It’s a lovely wedding, and I’m only half-drunk on champagne by the time we leave for our honeymoon.

We’ll be vacationing on the west coast, so Nico takes us to board my private jet.

I have a license to fly it, but I’ll be paying someone to do it. It’s the night of my wedding, after all, and I hope to join the mile-high club with Mia.

Mia, however, doesn’t seem to be in a good mood. Her face is drawn and she looks pale.

“Did you drink too much champagne?” I ask her, wondering if maybeIhad.

She shakes her head. “No. I just...I need to talk to you about something,” she says as we board the jet and sit down.

I call for two more glasses of champagne from the flight attendant I hired, and she brings it right away.

Mia is looking down at her hands, seeming nervous.

“I’m not the type of woman to put up with everything, Dante,” she says softly.

I blink at her. “What do you mean?”

“Just, if you’re thinking of having mistresses, just know that I won’t put up with that,” she says, looking up at me. “Divorce is a sin, but I won’t live with you as man and wife if you sleep with other women.”

I reach over to take her hands in mine. “Mia, I would never be unfaithful to you.” Though this is not a love match, I mean it. “Hasn’t your father told you how I’ve been turning girls down left and right?”

She smiles but only a little. “Yeah, but the fact that girls are throwing themselves at you—”

I scoff. “That’s what happens in our line of work, baby. Haven’t you seen it happen to your father?”

She bites her lip, nodding slightly. “I guess you’re right.”

“I am right,” I assure her. “And I’m not going to sleep with anyone but you.”

She cracks another smile. “You better not,” she grumbles, and I kiss her knuckles before leaning forward to kiss her lips.

“Now,” I tell her. “Why don’t you come and sit on my lap?”

The plane has already taken off, after all, and I have shut the curtains so that the flight attendant can’t see inside.

Mia bites her lip again, doing as she’s told and sitting in my lap. She’s changed into a red sundress and I bunch it up around her hips as she straddles my lap.

“You better not be wearing panties,” I murmur.

She grins at me. “Why would I need them? We’re on our honeymoon.”

“I knew there was a reason I married you,” I say before kissing her deeply, putting my hand on the back of her head to pull her closer.

She moans into my mouth and grinds her pelvis against mine. “Have you ever made love on a plane?” she asks.

“I’ve fucked on a plane before, yes,” I admit, making it clear there was no “making love” about it. “But this is the first time I’ll be making love on a plane. To my wife.”
