“Josh,” she gasps, hips undulating. “Bedroom. Now.”

Who am I to deny my fiancée?

Scooping Pearl into my arms, I carry her down the hall to our room. Her hands wander beneath my shirt, nails scoring over my abs. By the time I lay her on the bed we’re both panting, pupils blown wide with desire.

I strip off my shirt and jeans, watching through hooded eyes as Pearl does the same. She’s a vision lying there, all soft curves and warm honeyed skin, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

“You’re so beautiful,” I breathe, covering her body with mine.

Pearl arches into my touch, a breathy moan escaping her lips when I cup her breast. Her nipple pebbles under my palm and I lower my head to take it between my teeth, sucking and nipping until she’s writhing beneath me.

“Josh, please.” Her hands slide down to grip my waist, tugging insistently. “I need you inside me.”

Needing no further encouragement, I reach down to guide myself into her slick heat. We moan in unison at the feeling of joining, of coming home, and then there’s no more room for thoughts. Only sensation.

The slap of skin on skin.

Broken cries and whispered endearments.

The sweet ache of muscles straining, pushing, grasping for more.

I drive into Pearl’s willing body, swallowing her cries with my mouth. Her inner walls flutter around me, drawing me in deeper and deeper until there’s no telling where I end and she begins.

We crest the edge together, shattering into a million pieces only to be made whole again in each other’s arms.

Chests heaving, we stay locked together for long moments after. There’s a sheen of sweat on our skin and my arms tremble where they’re braced beside her head. But my lips curve into a smile as I meet her gaze, bright with love and satiation.

“Forever yours,” I promise softly.

Pearl smiles, tracing my lower lip with her thumb. “Forever mine.”

PEARL

Our hearts beat as one, a steady rhythm that lulls me into bliss. I could stay here forever, wrapped up in Josh’s embrace with nothing but the warmth of his skin and the devotion in his eyes to sustain me.

“You’re thinking too loudly,” he murmurs, brushing a kiss over my brow. “What’s going on in that beautiful mind of yours?”

Heat floods my cheeks, though there’s no point in being shy now. Not after everything we’ve shared. “Just…happy. And a little overwhelmed.” I chance a rueful smile. “I still can’t believe you proposed. That I get to marry you.”

“Believe it, darling.” Josh lifts my left hand, pressing his lips to the ring he placed there. “You’re stuck with me now.”

“As if I’d want to be anywhere else.”

We share a smile, the quiet joy between us speaking volumes. Then Josh grows pensive, rolling onto his side and propping his head on one hand.

“Together,” Josh says, claiming my mouth in a sweet, lingering kiss. “Where we were always meant to be.”

His words fill me with warmth, chasing away any lingering shadows or doubts.

Come what may, we’ll face each challenge hand in hand. Partners, lovers, best friends.

Two hearts. One soul.

Forever entwined.

Josh rolls onto his back, pulling me into his arms. I nestle against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart.
