‘Do you like it?’

‘I love it! Zach Barker, you are a man of many talents.’

‘Well, I have a few more up my sleeve…’

Millie laughed, but pulled her hand from Zach’s to inspect his icy work of art more closely. She had wondered where he’d disappeared to when they were creating their snow sculptures. She remembered thinking it strange that he had chosen to build his snowman in his back garden, away from the viewing public, and now she knew why.

In the middle of his patio stood two snowmen; one slightly taller with a woolly bobble hat perched on his head, a carrot for a nose and two black pebbles for eyes. As it sported a bottle of antibacterial spray in one hand and a dog’s lead in the other, it was obvious to any onlooker that it was supposed to be Zach. The second sculpture was smaller and wore a bright pink scarf, a pair of sparkly earrings and was festooned with tiny cocktail umbrellas – clearly a snow sculpture of Millie.

Suspended from a branch directly overhead was a sprig of mistletoe and the frozen statues were leaning towards each other, their faces touching in a depiction of a kiss. It was an amazing piece of art, but it was more than that. It was confirmation that Zach had loved her even before she had arrived in Berryford and she couldn’t wait to explore his feelings further in the warmth of his lodge.

But first, she had to accept the invitation. She grabbed the mistletoe and waved it over her head, laughing with delight as Zach brought his lips to hers and wished her a Merry Christmas in the best way possible.

The End
