“Can we say swoon worthy.” Abby whispers, making me laugh. “Guys, this is my new personal assistant, Abby. Jax said she can work for me. And that she can live here.” I say shyly. What if Jax hadn’t talked to them about her?

“Princess, I filled them in, they understand what is going on. We have already run a background check on her as well. She may move in whenever she is ready.” I light up at that. “Marie will sort everything out for you Abby.”

“Thank you. I will assist with whatever anyone needs. I make a mean coffee, by the way.” The guy’s chuckle at that. “You all better get going. Make sure she eats as well; she’s only had a snack while I was getting her ready.” She makes the shooing noise as I feel Xander’s hand slide to my lower back, shifting me in the direction he wants.

“I think you and her together might be trouble.” He whispers, nipping my ear. “But you really do look absolutely stunning tonight, Wren.” Cold air rushes at me as someone opens what must be the front door. Goosebumps pebble across my skin and a chill runs up my spine. We head down a few steps before a car door is opened, another hand reaching out grabbing mine to help me get seated.

“Angel, you look delicious and just like the nickname I gave you.” He skims his nose up my neck and I almost let out a needy moan. “You smell so good.” He adds on a big inhale making me shiver.

“Mav. Behave.” Jax snaps making Mav finally lean away and I let out a soft breath. These men are going to drive me crazy tonight. “Princess, you look beautiful. Are you ready for tonight?”

“Yes, nervous but excited, I guess.” I blush. I’ve never been to one of these but I’m pretty sure I won’t fit in. Whenever my ex was invited, he left me at home, usually because he couldn’t let anyone see my bruised and damaged body. I shake my head of those thoughts, tonight is supposed to be fun, not filled with horrible nightmares.

I relax back into the seat as the guy’s chat around me. Xander placed his hand on my thigh when he got in, so I'm sandwiched between him and Mav. Jax is close as well. I get the feeling we might be in a limo or something, not that I care. It doesn’t seem to take long before the car is pulling to a stop.

“Wren, I need you to listen to me.” I nod at Xander. “You do not leave our side. You need to go to the bathroom, one of us will go with you. Wanna take a walk, one of us will go with you. Do you understand?” I nod before answering with a yes. His tone is firm, like he means business. I almost forgot that these means are killers. That they live a second life, which means they probably have enemies. Enemies that might see me as a target as well. Oh god. I can’t go out there. Nope.

Jax must see the panic on my face because he jumps in. “Wren breathe. Nothing will happen to you. You’re safe with us. We will keep you safe, Princess. Do you trust us?” He asks, and I pause. Do I trust them? In a twisted way, yes. Deep down I know they would never hurt me but would someone hurt me just for being their woman, that’s the question.

“Yes.” I tell him. Because I do. “Good girl. Now head up, shoulder’s back Princess. You are royalty.” I do as he says, taking a deep breath as the car door is opened. The sound of cameras going off surrounds me with clicks coming from every direction but my men box me in. One on each side and one at my back as they lead me in.

The warmth of the room we enter washes over me, making me sigh. I’ve barely made it a few feet when a familiar excited voice calls out my name. “Wren, sweetheart you made it.” Mrs. Williams embraces me with a tight hug. “It’s been forever since the kids have seen you. They ask about you every day. When are you coming back dear.” I smile at that. I miss her kids too. They always brightened my day with their giggles and tight hugs.

“Oh ummm, I should be back on Monday.” I say tentatively. I know the guys said I could go back but I don’t know when they will actually let me. They seem a bit protective or maybe possessive at times.

“That’s great news. I will let the kids know and we will stop by. How does that sound?” I nod. “Great, well I have to go greet more guests, but enjoy the gala sweetheart. If you need anything, just come find me.” Before I can respond, I feel her flitter off greeting the next person with just as much excitement.

“Let’s go find our table and get you something to eat, angel.” Mav wraps his arm around mine, leading me away and over to a table, where he has me take a seat. Someone must approach because Mav orders us all the special before handing me a drink. “Here angel, some champagne.”

“Oh, Thank you.” I take a sip, the bubbles tinkling my throat as I swallow. There is music playing somewhere, what sounds like a live band playing softly. The sound makes me sway back and forth gently. It’s not long before plates are being placed in front of us, the smell teasing my nose as my stomach growls. I might have been hungrier than I thought. We eat in peace, getting lost in the flavors of creamy pasta and crispy garlic bread. It’s simple but absolutely delicious. No one approaches us the entire time we sit. Making me wonder if they aren’t known in these circles or get feared that much. I’m betting it’s the latter.

After we eat, Xander suggests we make a round. I know they plan to speak with someone tonight, so I’m guessing that he wants to find them and get it over with. The guys didn’t seem all that excited to meet with him in the first place. I have my arm wrapped around his as he guides me around the room, Mav to my other side and Jax follows up the rear. The same position as we entered. They say their greetings to a few gentlemen and I have a few ladies’ compliment my attire before we stop at a bar for the guys. I decline a drink due to not being a big drinker.

“Good evening gentlemen, fancy seeing you here.” The voice instantly grates my nerves. Tiffany.

“Tiffany.” Xander growls. “I thought we told you to get out of town. Was butchering your hair not enough of a warning?” The threat in his voice is clear, even knowing it’s not directed at me, a shiver skates up my spine. He wraps his arm around my waist and tucks me closer into his side. “Are you that much of a psycho that you would show up here and make a scene?” I feel the other two guys press in closer to me, protectively.

She scoffs. “Not everything is about you Xander. I’m actually here with my boyfriend.” She pauses. “Oh, there he is, baby, overhear.” She calls out in a high-pitched whine.

Mav snorts. “Figures. She jumps from dick to dick like it's some type of competition. What dumbass was stupid enough to fall for her bullshit?” He asks. I keep my mouth shut on this topic, since it was a few days ago that she came into their home talking about how she was in a relationship with the three of them.

I feel the guy’s tense around me. “Baby, these are the guys I was telling you about.” Everyone is quiet around me as I stand there confused.

My body tenses, as fear turns my blood ice cold. Then my entire life implodes as nightmare after nightmare floods my vision. I don’t even know if I’m breathing at this point. With a single word, my entire world comes to a screeching halt. “Dolly?”
