For God’s sake. While I love Nina more than anything in this world, she can be a bit simple at times.

Cathal shakes his head. “Definitely not. MMA is bloody and hardly has any rules.”

“I’m not sure I would have agreed to come if I’d known.” I shoot Nina a glare. “However, I was told it was boxing.”

“Give it a chance,” Cathal says. “You might enjoy it.”

“Indeed, you might,” James adds, appearing in front of me. “Hey boss,” he acknowledges Cathal.

Cathal gives him a nod. “Have a seat, James.”

James’ brow rises. “Are you sure? I have seats in the back.”

“I won’t hear of my second-in-command back there with the scum. I didn’t know you were coming. Sit next to Bella.”

James sits next to me and instantly I feel thankful that he’s here and Darcy isn’t. “It’s good to see you again,” he says, flashing me a winning smile.

I smile back. “It’s good to see you, too. Do you like MMA?”

There’s a flash of something undetectable in his eyes as he clears his throat. “It may be brutal, but I enjoy it, yes. Don’t be so quick to judge something you’ve yet to experience.”

“Talking of judging. What do you think of Isiah?”

He narrows his eyes. “Honestly?”

I nod.

“I think he’s rotten to the core. If I were you, I’d stay far away from that man.”

I laugh because it seems ironic that James is warning me away from Isiah. When Isiah warned me away from James. Perhaps the two are jealous of each other.

“What’s so amusing?”

“It’s just that’s exactly what he said about you.”

James frowns. “I’m not sure what he’d have against me.”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” That deep and seductive voice speaks from behind me, forcing both of us to glance back in surprise. “Hello, Bella.” He adjusts his watch on his wrist. “I’m surprised to see you here. Does your father know where you are?”

I swallow hard as I look into those piercing, light blue eyes. Eyes that have haunted my dreams ever since the night of the party four nights ago. It’s as if he’s under my skin. They’re like pure ice as he stares at me with that arrogant smirk on his face.

“It’s none of your business whether my father knows or not.”

“I didn’t think so,” he says, standing and coming around to my side, where unfortunately there’s an empty seat. He sinks into it. “I better tell dear old dad what you are up to.” He pulls his cell phone out of his pocket.

I grab his wrist and look into those piercing eyes. “Don’t.”

He tilts his head. “Hmm. Maybe if you beg me, I’ll consider keeping this a secret.”

Disgust coils through me and James leans over to interject. “Stop being an asshole, Darcy, and leave her alone.”

He bares his teeth at James. “I’d keep your nose out of it if I were you.”

“Are you threatening me now?” James asks.

Isiah adjusts the collar of his shirt. “Perhaps.”

“You know, you remind me very much of someone,” James says, staring at Isiah intently. “Have you ever heard of the Daltons?”
