Alastair shrugs. “It remains to be seen, but I want a way into London.” His eyes narrow as he glares at me. “I believe he’s the only man to give it to me.”

Over my dead body.

Gio glances at me, eyes narrowing. “Are you open to this?”

I clench my fist under the table as I’m not open to it, but I have to pretend that I am. “I’ll give it consideration,” I say, even though it doesn’t matter how badly I want my revenge on Gio and his family, one thing I will not do is make a deal with a fucking pedophile.

Alastair nods in response. “That’s all I ask.”

Gio takes a drink. “I’ll drink to that.”

There’s a murderous rage coursing through my veins as I sit here with these men. After a few moments of awkward silence, Gio speaks.

“So.” He runs a hand across the back of his neck. “As I said, I have some fresh meat for you, but I need this brushed under the carpet.” He nods at the envelope on the table.

Alastair grabs it and slides it into his pocket without even questioning what it is. “Consider it done. When can I expect delivery of said meat?”

Gio’s eyes dart to my fists, which are both clenched on the table. “As I said earlier, I’ll be in touch with all the details tomorrow.”

Alastair’s eyes narrow. “I’d hoped I’d have delivery tonight. Do you know how long it’s been? Two months since the last one.”

I shudder at the way he says that and can hardly believe that I’m still sitting in my own chair. Every instinct in my body wants to act and tear this man apart, limb from limb.

“I appreciate that, but one more evening won’t kill you, will it?” Gio says.

If he’s not careful, I’ll be killing him before he can make it out of this fucking building. There’s a dark and dangerous rage trying to come to the surface.

All I want is to pull out my gun and shoot him right in the face. I know that intervening, particularly after this conversation, would be dangerous. Gio would know that I’m involved. And I need Gio to believe that I’m on his side until the time is right.

Until it’s time to bring him and his family down once and for all.

“No, I guess it won’t kill me.” He sighs heavily. “But I expect delivery tomorrow.” He tilts his head. “How many?”

“I’ve got two for you this time.”

“One of each?” he confirms.

I’m just about ready to explode and literally shoot him dead right here in the middle of the hotel bar, when Gio clears his throat. “We’ll discuss this tomorrow. Now, if you’d excuse us, we have some other business we need to attend to.” Gio stands and grabs the lapel of my jacket, yanking me to my feet.

I don’t doubt that my intent was written all over my face.

Alastair nods. “Of course, I will await your call.” The smug smirk on his face makes me sick to my stomach as Gio nods toward the exit.

I walk away reluctantly.

“You need to keep yourself together, Isiah. It looked like you wanted to murder him right there in the middle of the bar.”

“I did,” I admit.

He shakes his head. “Are you telling me you’ve never had to deal with men with his proclivity in the past?”

“Any I have come across, I’ve ousted from this Goddamn planet. It’s what they deserve.”

Gio’s jaw works. “It’s business.”

I shrug. “As I said, I don’t stoop to that level in my business.”

He nods. “Another admirable quality I’d like in a son-in-law, even if I do find you a bit judgmental.”
