“Both! When you saw Bailey sittin’ at the top of that hill on her mare that day, I could tell you wanted to hug her and scold her, but you didn’t know which to do first.”

“He did them at the same time,” Bailey exclaimed, then laughed out loud.

“I’ll just bet he did! Rick, I’ll put you in touch with the guy I’ve been dealin’ with. He specializes in foreclosures and he’ll see you right. Now you two should get up to that cabin. You both need to rest after that long drive, and you have a lot to talk about.”

When Rick and Bailey returned to the cabin, they paused on the porch for another look at the valley below. Leaning into him, she let out a happy sigh.

“Things were so different the last time we were here,” she said softly. “I never imagined I’d be back with you like this.”

“And I sure as hell never imagined I’d be buyin’ Big John’s ranch,” he declared, then turning to face her, he placed his hand under her chin and tilted up her head. “Tell me, Bailey, when was the last time you were over my knee?”

“I don’t remember,” she replied, feeling her face flush red.

“Then it’s been too long. We’re gonna start this off right.”

Before she could respond he was bustling her into the cabin.

“Wait! It was ten days ago, after—”

“You got snippy with me because I took that gin and tonic out of your hands,” he declared, sitting on the couch and jerking her over his lap. “Do you promise to love, honor and obey?” he demanded, smoothing his hand over her backside.”

“Good luck with that,” she retorted, giggling as she looked at him over her shoulder.

He swiftly delivered several hot slaps, evoking loud squeals.

“I’ll ask you again, do you promise to love, honor and obey?”

“I’ll give it some thought and get back to you.”

Grinning, he deftly maneuvered her body around to straddle his lap, and slipped his fingers into her hair.

“The truth is, there’s only one promise I want you to make. Stay the fiery, impulsive, brave, beautiful girl I’m crazy about. As difficult and stubborn as you can be, I never want you to change.”

“Rick, I feel the same. Every time you get on a bull my heart stops, but it’s who you are. Who I fell in love with.”

“You remind me of Baileys Irish Cream. Sweet and delicious, with the hint of a kick, and— ”

“Just a hint?” she whispered, cutting him off.”

“And I like it with ice,” he finished, ignoring her sassy remark. “Go in the bedroom, get naked and lie on a towel. I’ll make a quick stop at the freezer and be right there.”

THE END
