“Isla.”

That was a plea from his lips.

She leaned back, smirking. “Later,” she whispered and rose on her knees.

What came next certainly wasn’t to any of Kai’s disappointment.

She positioned him at her entrance, rubbing the head through her wetness before sliding down, down. Her muscles strained as she slowly took every glorious inch of him into her body, Kai’s hands guiding until he was so deep inside her that she couldn’t think around him.

“Fuck.”

She needed to hear him say her name again. Needed him to keep looking at her like she was all the worlds in one.

Isla lifted and slammed her hips down, moaning at the shock of pleasure that sparked every nerve, that flared hotter when she rocked her hips, brushing that spot at the apex of her thighs. Goddess, he felt incredible. The stretch and fill to just the right edge of pain.

Isla crushed her mouth to his, the kiss deep, claiming, and desperate as his tongue slid into her mouth, and they built a rhythm. He met her stroke for stroke with an upward thrust of his hips, his hands exploring her skin as she chased her pleasure.More, more, more.

Back arching, his name a prayer on her lips, Isla gave herself over to him and every alive thing he made her feel. To this divine bond that linked them. To their mingling breaths, the twining of life, the pounding of their hearts as they barreled through ecstasy together.

Together. Always together. They couldn’t be ripped apart. Never again. She wouldn’t allow it.

It didn’t take long for her to reach that precipice of oblivion again, her cries and his grunts echoing off the study’s walls as the knot in her belly became impossibly tight and ready to snap.

“Isla.”

A low, growling beckon. One that resounded deep inside her and made her teeth ache.

Isla tore her mouth from his, bringing it down to the tender flesh between his neck and shoulder. She wrapped her arms around him, hugging her sweat-slicked body closer as their movements slowed to an intense, purposeful, and luxurious pace, as he shifted his hips in a way that made her eyes roll back. Hit her deeper than he ever had.

Pushed her right over that glittering edge.

Her orgasm ripped through her in time with her teeth piercing his skin.

Mine.

The word echoed in her head along with Kai’s moan as her bite dug into him, staking her claim on his flesh and feeling the warmth of his blood trickle into her mouth, tasting the metallic tang. And then shewasthat golden thread, their bond, humming with pleasure, brimming with pressure, about to burst with whatever magic this universe their souls crafted was made from.

Isla pulled back, licking his blood from the corner of her mouth as she met his drunken, smug, sex-dazed smile that made her want to fuck him for hours. She wasn’t done with him. Not even close. And judging by the fact he was still hard, he wasn’t done either.

Kai brushed away a piece of golden hair stuck to her forehead. “That’s my girl.”

Isla bit back a smile at the praise. She leaned in closer again, her mouth brushing over his. “You said you’d take anything I gave you.” Before they retracted, she dragged her canines over his bottom lip. “Now, give meeverything.”

She knew the unspoken words were more than apparent to him.Don’t hold back.

And thank the Goddess that when he flipped them, pressing her back in the couch, and lifted her legs over his shoulders, he didn’t.

CHAPTER13

ADRIEN

The people of Deimos really knew how to throw a party. Adrien was thankful for the amount of them that flooded the lower squares of Mavec, brimming with music, joy, and life, making it easier for him, Sebastian, and Malakai to blend in with the bodies.

They sat at a restaurant by the river’s edge, watching from the stone bank as the boats bobbed along the water. On them and around them, pack members ate, drank, danced, shopped for small trinkets at vendor stalls, and filled the sky with lanterns brimming with their wishes and gratitudes, if he remembered the tradition Isla had told him about correctly.

Occasionally, thunder would rumble, a distant rolling sound, but no one seemed concerned about rain ruining the night.

It wasn’t unusual to experience the same ambiance in Io—hell, the Golden Avenue was spectacular, especially around the Summer Solstice—but there was something different about this place. About today. It spoke to something deep inside him, tugging at him. It had been a while since he’d seen such pure joy. Not a happiness simply because of survival, not at the expense of another, just…a celebration because they were alive. Because everything wasgood. This community had been dealt a heavy hand, but today…today was like coming up for air after being underwater for too long. Something he had desperately needed, too.
