"He's doing well. Loves his job. Loves using me as a Barbie doll. Has a gorgeous girlfriend. He's living the life."

"August could live the life in Wichita."

Jill guffawed at that, "Oh no he couldn't! No one would 'get' him there. It's very important to August that he be 'gotten'. Poor dear."

Rhiannon laughed."True.So, what are your plans for the weekend?"

"Nothing major. This is my last truly free week before I have to start behaving like someone in a movie. I’m in New York the first week of February–I have some legal stuff going on, and it's nearly settled. Then it’s back here for the Grammys–I’m presenting–and then pre-production for the film starts. I haven’t met my leading man, yet. He’s off in Canada or something, shooting another film. Honestly, I’m just looking forward to sleeping this weekend.”

"Oh. Amen to that. I don't know when I'll get to sleep. I'm about six hours short for the week already," Rhiannon said, grabbing up the bottle and uncorking it. "Those early morning calls are murder. You know how I hate the sun."

They giggled over Rhiannon's set gossip until they sat down for dinner, where the subject changed to what Jill knew of all Rhiannon's old companions in the city. For someone who rarely went out to mingle, she knew all the gossip. Halfway through the meal, Rhiannon's phone rang. She went to answer and was pleasantly surprised to hear Kline on the other end of the line.

"'Lo there, Beautiful," he cried over a din of background noise."I wanted to say hello. I was thinking of you."

"Hello," she said, her smile growing wider. "You sound like you're trapped at a party."

"Trapped is the word."

"Don't you ever stay home?"

"I'm staying home tomorrow and Sunday night," he grinned. She could hear it in his voice."And I can hardly wait."

"That makes two of us," she said, biting her lip. "I've even cleared my schedule in the afternoon so I can be there sooner."

He didn't say anything for a moment then purred, "How about if we start Saturday tonight? I can get out of here in about an hour."

"Oooh, that's tempting."

"So, say yes, and I'll make it forty-five minutes."

Rhiannon sighed. "I can't. Not in an hour, anyway."

"How long?"

"I'm actually in the middle of dinner with a friend. I-- two hours?"

"Two hours is great."

"Alright. I'll see you in two," she said, the smile returning.

Jill was watching her with a slight smile, keeping her expression carefully blank. "Something come up?"

"Yep, but I'm not running you off," Rhiannon said, seriously. "Not entirely. No rush. I can be a little late."

Jill laughed and started to fold her napkin. "Honey, booty calls.I think you should rush. I know I would."

"No, I made plans with you and I'm enjoying it. I'll get to him when I get there."

"I should be getting home anyway.I need to get some things together for New York.Make sure all my paperwork is in order. You know."

Rhiannon watched Jill get up and go to her purse. "I have to call for the car," she said, "but as soon as he's back here, I'll be on my way."

Before Jill could unzip her bag, her phone started ringing from within. She plucked it out, looked at the caller ID and snorted before swiping her caller into voice mail. Then she dialed for her car.

"Bill collector?" Rhiannon asked, standing to clear the table.

"Absolutely," Jill grinned.
