"Very much" she whispered.

He chuckled thickly and caught her mouth in another searching kiss, his hands slipping into her hair and sending shivers down her spine. Every touch seemed to stir response and soon Jill was sighing into his mouth as he wrapped his arms further around her and pulled her close.

"Do you keep overnight guests," he asked close to her ear, moments later.

"I put on fresh sheets," she heard herself answering."I guess I was hoping I would."

Thad stood up, lifting her easily in his arms. "I'd love to see them," he said, kissing her again as he carried her to the door and into the house. With murmured direction from Jill, he soon had her in the bedroom, stretched across the cool sheets.

He leaned over her, resting his weight on one forearm as he stroked her face with his free hand. “You are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and I can’t believe I’m here with you right now.”

Delight bubbled up from her core and she let out a little laugh, she couldn’t help it. He laughed back, his smile a sickle of pleasure that cut through all of her insecurities. When he ran his hand down her throat, sliding the flat of it over her sternum to fan out at the curve of her hip, Jill shivered and swallowed. When he teased his fingertips over the edge of her satin dress, then up under it to find the edge of her panties, she gasped into the kiss he laid against her lips.

“Good?” He murmured, easing the fabric aside to stroke her hidden cleft.

She could barely breathe, only managing a jagged, “Yes,” in response.

“Good girl,” he purred, sparking something in her soul that she had never felt before, and she yielded her body up to him like an offering to some obscure Australian god of desire, the icon of her new religion. She was too far gone to laugh at herself, so she just let Thad carry her out of her mind on waves and waves of pleasure.

When she woke later, she was still in his arms, his body curving around hers protectively and she smiled to herself. She couldn't even begin to compare what they'd just done with anything else she'd ever experienced. Not even August, who was a most effective and attentive lover. Thad had touched places in her that she hadn't even known existed, not least of all in her heart. Just the way he looked at her, seeing her as a whole, fully formed woman–it was amazing.

"Hi," he said softly, sensing her wakefulness. "How're you doing?"

"You're awake," she said.

"I never went to sleep."

"Oh!" She chuckled. "I did."

"No, babe, I think what you did was more like passing out." She could hear the grin in his voice. "I thought I'd broken you."

"Broken, fixed.Same thing."She shifted a little to face him. "Can you stay? Do you want to stay?"

"I can and I do," he said, leaning in to kiss her. "There is no place I wouldrather be at this moment."

"Oh good," she sighed. "I was afraid you wouldn't."

"I still respect you," he teased. "Do you still respect me?"

Jill gave a throaty laugh."Thad, I have a whole new level of respect for you.Whole new level."

He laughed, too. “That’s good to know," he said, cuddling her closer. "Just think, that was only our first time together. It gets better."

"Wow...That thought is almost frightening.Almost."

"I told you. Very big stinger." He was calling back to an earlier conversation and she loved it.

Jill burst out laughing at that, burying her face in his shoulder. They both giggled until they fell into a comfortable silence. "I've never had sex outside of a relationship before," Jill said after a while."I'm not sure how this works. What does this mean? How does this work?"

"It works just fine from what I can tell," he teased.

"Well, yes, but this is new territory for me."

"There's nothing to worry over, love. It’s an excellent beginning to what will hopefully be a longand happy relationship," he said, rubbing her arm. "When we're ready, that is."

Some of the helium eked out of her floating spirits, but Jill checked herself that he was still technically married. He technically couldn't be involved on that count alone. Besides, she'd agreed with him about taking things slowly. ’I think that word does not mean what you think it means,’ she said to herself as she settled back against his chest. "I like long and happy. And hopefully.I like hopefully."

"Hopefully is very good," he agreed. They settled for a bit before he asked, "Why did you think I wouldn't want to stay?"
