That’s all I needed to hear at the moment. I shifted forward and opened my mouth over hers, taking it in a long, hard, deep kiss that hopefully showed her how much I love her and missed her.

When we finally came up for air, she smiled.

“Why don’t we take this upstairs?”

I nodded and pressed back to stand and took her hand to pull her up. She led me up the stairs and to her room. The bedside lamp she turned on offered enough light so I could see every perfect inch I exposed as I slowly undressed her. I removed my own clothes in record speed and my erection nudged against her soft curves as we laid down in the middle of the bed.

Our hands caressed and mouths devoured so I was surprised when she pulled back and smiled at me.

“You know, I’m going to drive you crazy.”

My own face split into a big smile as I imagined the word forever at the end of that sentence.

“I’d expect nothing less.”

Her laugh turned to moans as I shifted on top of her and slipped inside.

EPILOGUE

Two months later

Simon unlockedthe door and pushed it open. I went to step inside but he put his arm out to stop me.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I have to carry you over the threshold.”

“That’s the tradition after you get married,” I said. “Besides, I’m too heavy.”

He rested my hands against my waist and pulled me close for a kiss.

“You. Are. Perfect.”

His image blurred when he said those words. Before I could respond, he bent down, placed his arm under my knees, and straightened, taking me with him. I held onto his neck as he stepped inside. After carrying me to the middle of the room, I slid down against his body as he slowly released me.

I kissed him, then pulled back and looked around.

“I can’t believe this is our house.”

“And I can’t believe I get to spend the entire night with you.”

“That’s definitely a perk of homeownership.”

Since Simon’s parents decided not to hit the road again just yet, it took some innovation to get in sexy time. Neither Granny Vi or his parents would have blinked an eye if we’d slept together at their houses, but we both agreed we didn’t want to do that.

As we walked through the empty rooms, I imagined how I’d decorate them. We bought some basic furniture, which will be delivered in the next week, but I want to take some time with the small touches that will make the house a home.

“This house is truly beyond perfect.”

I looked around the kitchen, then out the patio doors. The pool is covered and the patio and yard have a light coating of snow, but I’m already picturing summer barbecues with friends and family.

“It definitely checked all our boxes and then some.”

“I always loved Anjannette and Leo’s house, but I never thought I’d have one just like it.”

“This isn’t quite as big as theirs.”

“But it’s the same design and in the same neighborhood.”
