“Anytime,” I said.

“I celebrated my twenty-first birthday here during a Notre Dame game,” Andrew said.

“And he got really, really drunk.” I said.

When Notre Dame plays, Joyce’s has a special that includes all-you-can-eat burgers and all-you-can-drink beer for just $15. It’s definitely a bargain.

Keera and Anjannette’s food arrived and they dug right in.

“So what’s everyone doing for Thanksgiving?” Leo asked.

Archer was the first to answer.

“I’m going to my aunt’s house.”

“I go to my grandparents’,” Andrew said. “But I’m on call, so we’ll see if I make it through dinner.”

“We’ll be at my grandmother’s in the early afternoon and Simon’s parents later in the day,” Keera said before taking a bite of a mozzarella stick.

She seems more like herself today and her matter-of-fact answer about what we’re doing for the holiday is reassuring. Maybe shewasjust tired this past week.

“What about you two?” I asked.

“We’re spending it with my family in New Jersey.”

“I’m bummed you guys won’t be at the concert Saturday night,” Keera said.

“Me too,” Anjannette said. “I love going to see your dad’s band play.”

“We can always sneak out early,” Leo said.

“I don’t want to ruin your Thanksgiving,” she said.

He smiled at her and said, “As long as I’m with you, it’ll be perfect.”

The crowd let out a collective groan and we turned our attention to the TV. Archer explained the missed pass that had everyone so upset, then proceeded to explain the physics behind its lack of completion. I’m sure if a sports team ever heard some of his breakdowns, they’d hire him on the spot.

We hung out for a little while longer, before deciding to head out. Anjannette gave Keera a hug and we all said goodbye and I watched them walk down the block toward their cars before turning back to Keera.

“Nice spot,” I said as we stood next to Keera’s car right in front of us.

“Nothing but the best.”

She opened the door and gestured for me to get in.

“Thank you, ma’am.”

I flopped into the passenger seat and chuckled.

“You good?” Keera asked.

“Never better.”

She smiled then closed the door and I watched her walk around the front of the car before getting in and settling behind the wheel.

With my head against the seat, I looked over at her.

“What?” Keera asked when she noticed me staring at her.
