“Then yes.” She launched herself at me, wrapped her arms around my neck, and pressed her mouth against mine. “Yes!”

Releasing her hold on my neck, she sat back and watched as I slid the ring on her finger.

“Perfect fit,” I said and kissed the back of her hand.

Thea joined us and once she was assured everything was okay, went back to her Kong. Summer scooted over until she sat with her back against my chest. She held her hand up and watched as the sun sparkled through the stone.

No deal or bonus or promotion ever made me as happy as I am with this woman.

We packed up and headed back down the trail, my fiancée, our dog, and me. A smile spread across my face as I thought about that family at the airport lounge.

“What are you smiling about?”

“The future.”

I entwined our fingers together, enjoying the feel of her ring against my hand as we walked toward the car to go home.
