Cable and Logan climbed the three flights of stairs in Sam’s old apartment building. It was still sunny outside, and they knew there was nowhere for Chase to run.

Cable didn’t bother to knock. He jimmied the door open and stepped into the darkened living room, his twin closing the door behind him. pulling out his silver dagger, Cable made his way down the hallway, easing Chase’s bedroom door open.

The vampire was asleep on his bed.

“Wakey, wakey,” Cable said.

Chase’s eyes flew open, and he leaped from his bed, crouching low. “I was wondering when you’d pay me a visit.” He licked his lips. “I can still taste Sam on my lips.”

Cable knew for a fact that Chase hadn’t tasted Sam’s blood. The guy was only antagonizing him. He twirled the knife in his hand. “And I’m going to taste yours when I rip out your fucking throat.”

Chase attacked, but Cable slapped him aside with ease. “You better come with your A game, because I’m not fucking around.”

When Chase came at him again, Cable buried the knife to the hilt in the guy’s chest. He yanked the vampire close, snarling at him. “Anyone who touches Sam dies. No exceptions.”

Cable sank his canines into Chase’s throat and ripped it out. He let the vampire go, and Chase crumpled to the floor. Cable retrieved his knife and wiped the blood off on the man’s shirt.

“Feel better now?” Logan asked. “I don’t even know why I’m here. You had all the fun.”

Cable tossed a smirk over his shoulder. “In case my damsel ass needed saving.”

Logan laughed. “You’re hardly a damsel. Let’s go home. Rayne is cooking, and I’m starving. He’s making tacos.”

Cable strode from the apartment with his twin, anxious to get back to Sam. The love of his life and his forever. Sam had gotten the job at the coffee shop, and he was scheduled to work first thing tomorrow.

So Cable planned on wearing his mate out tonight, to show his mate how proud he was of him and just how much he loved the guy. Right now, life was good, and Cable wanted to bask in it before something else blew their way.
