“Fuck yeah they do. That’s why I’m thinking about setting up a tent at the fall festival this year. Would you be down for helping head it with me?”

“Hell yeah, man. We’ll get so much exposure. Plus, hopefully it will bring around some new ladies for your ever growing conquest list.” Gage wiggles his eyebrows up and down and I can’t help but laugh even though he's being a dick. He does have a point, but I don’t plan on being on the market this fall. Well, I suppose I technically could be if Spencer agrees to my plan since it would be fake dating, but I’d never risk causing a scandal for her by being cheated on a second time.

I grab the back of my head and break eye contact with him.

“What the hell was that look for? Why are you so fidgety and won’t make any eye contact?” Since he first came here, we hit it off and became great friends and shared the same opinion about relationships. I know something happened in his past that set him off, but he still hasn’t told me the whole story. From what I can tell, it seems a little traumatic and I figured he’d let me know when he’s ready. But, do I tell him the cover or the truth about Spencer? It may help having someone in the know.

“So, I may have gotten myself into some shit.” He just laughs and shakes his head, so I keep going. “You remember Aileen?”

“The chick who came in here and lost her damn mind acting all territorial and trying to run off our patrons. Yeah, she will be hard to forget. She was hot, but her crazy eyes were enough for me to run the other way.”

“Yeah, that’s her. Well apparently, she’s the assistant principal at Pat’s school and she was not supportive of my ability to take care of or be a good influence for Pat. She questioned my capability and in a rather public way, so I may have told her I was dating someone who worked at the school.”

“Why would you do that, dumbass? Do you even know any of the people that work at the school?”

"Um, yeah. You know Emerson who comes in here a few times a week with her guys from the garage?” He just nods his head, so I keep going, “well, she came in here one night with her sisters and the oldest, Spencer, we kind of hit it off. There was just something about her that I couldn’t stop my eyes from wandering back to her throughout the night. We ended up running into each other in the back hall and one thing led to another. I asked her to come home with me and she did.”

“Wait, you took her to your house? You never go to your house. Did she just not want to go to hers?”

“No, well maybe. I don’t know. I didn’t wait for her to ask. I just took over and asked if she wanted to come to my place and she did.” Gage lets out a whistle as he leans back in his seat and crosses his arms all the while looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.

“Huh, so is she one of your casual flings?”

“Nope. We got to my house and spent a decent amount of time talking before I had the best fucking sex of my life. She had just found her fiancé cheating on her and wasn’t looking for anything serious so when I woke up in the morning, she was gone. She didn’t leave her number and never asked for mine, so it was a one time thing.” I trail off because I don’t really want Gage knowing that I would’ve been okay if it had been more than a one and done, but of course he’s too perceptive and knows I’m holding out on him.

“But you didn’t want it to be one and done, did you? When you said that, you looked so fucking disappointed, man.”

“Um, if I just said I had the best sex of my life, why the fuck wouldn’t I want more of that? I ran into her at the grocery store about a month ago and asked her to go out, but she shot me down. She wants the house with the picket fence, a dog, the perfect husband, and 2.5 kids. She knows that’s not me and instead of just saying fuck it because the sex was so good, she gave me a kiss on the cheek and walked away.”

At that, Gage loses it and starts cracking up. Asshole. “Oh, yeah. You find that funny?”

He acts as if he is wiping tears from his eyes while taking another minute to compose himself. “Actually, I do. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a chick turn you down once you have your sights set on her. So, what happened when you told her you implied you were dating someone at the school, and it was her?”

“Well, I didn’t exactly tell her the part about saying I was already dating someone at the school, but I did tell her about the shit Aileen was spewing and also was kind of her shoulder to lean on. That’s when I propositioned her to fake date.”

“Why were you being a shoulder to lean on?”

“Well, remember how I told you her ex cheated on her? They work together at the school and the person he cheated on her with is also the new music teacher there. People treated her like she was going to crack any minute at the end of last year. She was hoping it would be better once she got back to the school, but the new chick is very obviously pregnant, and it doesn’t take a genius to do the math about when the baby was conceived. And to make matters worse, they didn’t get the updates finished at the school, so her normal room is under construction and her new room is right by his, so she gets to see the happy couple all the time.”

“Damn, that’s a tough break for her and I suppose it could work out in your favor. So let me guess, she helps you look like a respectable adult, and you get to help show that she’s moved on from her dickhead ex?”

“Yep, that’s basically it.”

“But, you’re still attracted to her?” I hesitate just a minute, but Gage picks up on it. ‘Ha. You know this is going to turn out to be a fucking shit show, right? There’s no way you’re going to be able to keep your hands off her. And if she wants the happily ever after, how are you going to guarantee she doesn’t fall for you and then you’re the next guy to break her heart?”

“Well, she would have to agree first. We were interrupted by her other sister, Chayse, so she didn’t give me an answer. I told her she knows where to find me if she’s interested. And as for the falling part, there will be no physical relationship other than maybe some hand holding and a kiss here or there to make it believable.”

“Well maybe she’ll turn your ass down and then there will be no issues, because whether you want to admit this to yourself or not, it’s going to get messy. You’ve already treated her differently than your past conquests, there’s no way you’re going to both make it out of this unscathed.”

I know there’s no point arguing with him because he’s probably right, but I don’t want to give my friend something to hold over me. So, I just flip him off and head towards our brewing room. I can hear him laughing as I make it down the hallway and smell the delicious scent of beer brewing. I ended up getting lost in everything brewing for a few hours before I crawled back home and passed out for the night.

Waking up the next day with raging morning wood isn’t surprising after seeing Spencer yesterday and talking about her so much with Gage last night. I have a few errands to do this morning before heading to the bar to work on the new menu for fall. I know if I don’t do something about my dick, it’s just going to drive me nuts for the rest of the day. Especially since its damn near impossible for me to get Spencer off my mind.

Jumping in the shower, I crank the heat and let my hand trail down my stomach, over my abs, as it follows my happy trail down to my dick. My cock jumps as soon as my hand makes contact with it. I lean my other arm on the wall and drop my chin to my chest as I slowly stroke down my raging hard-on to my piercing. I give it a little tug before going back to a quick unforgiving pace. With an image of Spencer squeezing her luscious tits and pinching her nipples, it’s not long before I shoot off, spilling all over the shower wall. I rinse off the wall before finishing my shower and getting my day started.

It’s almost 4 o’clock when one of my bartenders comes in the kitchen to tell me someone out front is asking for me. It’s probably for the best anyway to clear out of the kitchen before the dinner rush starts. We were already starting to get quite a few appetizer orders from people who are stopping in after work. It turns out the guy I met at the farmers market was an intern that was helping out at Gage’s grandpa’s farm. I was able to go out and talk to him today and confirm that we will be able to use quite a few different produces for the fall menu. He even gave me the name of a local farmer who is doing wonders with his beef cattle.

I clean up my space before I head out front and stop dead in my tracks. It’s not uncommon for people to want to meet me, so it never crossed my mind that Spencer would be the one standing in front of me.
