Page 28 of Signed For Him

He looks at the clock above Ben's head before turning to me with a smirk. "Yep. Half an hour late, as it happens."

"Why the hell didn't you tell me? Dad's gonna go bloody crazy. Come on," I tell him as I grab his arm and yank him towards the doors to the meeting rooms.

"I'll see you later, Ben!" I shout back at him as I walk off while dragging Liam.

"There's no rush. You wanted to do your hair," he tells me as he swipes my hand away, straightens himself, and then grabs my hand again.

"I could have just put it in a bobble if I knew we were on a time crunch," I hiss out.

"Nah, he's right, your dad won't care," Crow tells me as he catches up with us and takes my other side.

"Do you even know my dad?" I ask, exasperated. "He will most definitely care." I huff out as I continue plodding along towards the meeting rooms.

I pull to a stop outside the door I can hear conversation coming from while I wait for a very slow Liam and Crow. They seriously could not take any longer if they tried. They both have such confident walks, I realise as I watch them with agitation filling my face. If nothing else, speeding ahead gives me a moment to take in the absolute god given beauty of them. Now that I'm looking at them standing side by side, I realise how similar they are. I've never thought about it or noticed it before but they both have buzz cuts - well, they did, Crows has grown out a bit since but Liam’s is still short. Their hair is only a few shades apart from one another and their builds are also eerily similar aside from Liam being maybe three inches or so taller than Crow.

"You look like you're eye fucking us, princess," Crow tells me as he staggers towards me with a smirk on his face.

"I was most definitely not doing that," I tell him with a terrible hair flick as I turn around, mortified because I absolutely was doing exactly that.

"You look like one of those popular girls when you flick your hair like that." Crow laughs as he loops his arm around my shoulders and kisses the side of my head.

"I do not, at all. I look cool and dignified when I flick my hair," I tell him even though I know for a fact that I am lying through my teeth.

"You really do. You know that blonde one in Mean Girls that you used to make me watch? Her." Liam joins in with a smirk on his face.

"Yeah, man, that's the one!" Crow laughs, his head falling back as he does.

I whack Crow in the stomach lightly in an attempt to either hurt him or shut him up.

"Are you done picking on me now? Are we going in or not?"

"We're still ten minutes early, there's no need to rush," Liam tells me as he checks the time on his phone and shows it to me.

"It's three o'clock. I thought you said we were half an hour late?" I ask, confused.

"I did. I lied. No one's supposed to be meeting us until ten past. I just knew you hate being late and I know your dad likes it even less, so I thought if I distracted you then you wouldn't worry as much about being here and walking down the hall," he tells me simply, with the most 'duh' expression ever, as if I should have known something so seemingly obvious.

I look at him, completely dumbfounded at the thought that went into him doing something so simple that helped so much. He is right. I hadn't thought about my clammy hands, my erratically beating heart, or the harsh breaths that were coming out of me even once since he mentioned us being late.

"Did you know about this?" I ask Crow.

"Well, no, but I figured it out when he told you we were late when I knew damn well that we were not and then he kept smirking at you so I put two and two together and made eleven point seven, so yeah, I knew before you," he tells me with a nod of his head as if everyone should understand his maths.

A smile creeps up on my face as I glance between them both.

"Are you lot coming in or just standing in the hall all damn day?" I hear Tins gruff voice shout from inside the room. The door is open slightly, his voice loud enough to echo and be heard down the hall.

"We're coming now, chill ya beans, jeez," Crow says as he saunters inside and takes a seat at the table, totally unbothered by Tin’s huffing and puffing. One thing about Tin is that he hates waiting. He likes to be busy all of the time, so if he's got something to do, he likes to get it over and done with so that he can move onto his next task.

I'm sat between Liam and Crow with my dad, Tin, and Mal sat opposite us. Mal is very introverted and prefers to spend his time away from others, but in these situations, he's the only one that's had any genuine history in his life with questioning, interviews, and psychology. He was a police officer with a psychology degree so although this isn't anything official, he knows how to conduct himself a lot better than anyone else my dad could have asked in the Cobras.

"Right, everyone here? Let's move on. Liam. Mal, let's go," Tin says pointedly as he nods in Liam’s direction.

"We've gone over everything we need to. I just have a few questions for you, and then we'll talk among the three of us and get back to you with an official decision."

Liam nods, looking completely unphased. I'm not sure that Liam wants this life anymore. I know that he adores the Cobras and the men within, but that doesn't change the fact that after everything he's endured, I'm sure he'd prefer a peaceful life away from the chaos of club life or at least a lesser part in the Cobras that doesn't demand as much of him.

"Are you happy for me to proceed with Crow and Charlie here? Some of the questions are of a rather intimate nature," Mal says delicately.
