“All man, who fucked my needy little pussy and covered me in his come back there, claiming me like a savage even though anyone could have burst in there and caught us,” she says lowly, walking her fingers down my abs and biting her lip.

“Damn right, I did,” I rumble out finally, pulling her tight against me and ravishing her mouth.

There’s a need inside of me to make sure she knows that despite my stupid little fear, I am still the strong alpha that can and will protect her. No matter what.

I kiss her completely breathless, and then I kiss her some more before I finally pull back.

“Let’s get out of here. I need to take care of my omega,” I say when her stomach grumbles.

“Food,” she groans like a zombie, causing me to chuckle.

Ripley screams out as we run through the cornfield, being chased by someone with a chainsaw. The night sky twinkles with thousands of stars above her, and the moon is big and bright, helping us see. She screams again, and then we both laugh as the chainsaw revs up just as we burst out through the end of the maze.

We’re laughing as we run to the safe area to be taken back to the parking lot by a tractor with a trailer filled with bales of hay to sit on for the short ride back. She huddles into my lap, curling herself in the hoodie I found for her when I sit on a hay bale.

“Best date day ever,” Ripley murmurs happily against my throat, her breath puffing out warmly against the sensitive skin.

“Don’t let River hear you say that.” I mumble back to her, kissing her forehead.

I’d say we had a great day. After we left the Thirteenth Gate, it was nearly two, so we went for a late lunch at a diner close to Field of Screams. We ate the diner’s Halloween-themed burgers and fries, enjoying our time together. After, we headed to our next stop.

While we waited on it to get dark, we played games and rode rides that were set up for those waiting on the haunted trails. Ripley was excited we were doing the corn maze and haunted trail, even though I’d already taken her to a haunted house.

“I love stuff like this,” she’d told me as I’d pulled into the dirt parking lot.

I won her plenty of prizes just so I could hear that cute little excited squeal she’d give off and see the beautiful smile that’d take over. Her laughter as we rode the various rides was infectious. My cheeks hurt from smiling so damn much with her.

It’s the first time I’ve truly had her to myself and having her full attention on you is addictive. When she looks at you, her eyes twinkling and a smile on her face, it’s like being bathed in her love. A sense of completeness fills you. No wonder everyone else struggles so much with sharing time with her.

“You gonna end the night in my bed, Sweetheart?” I ask her in a low tone, hopefully.

I want to fall asleep with her in my arms, wrapped around me. Skin to skin. I want to nestle my cock inside of her warm heat, keeping us connected even as we sleep. Fucking her isn’t even on my mind, but I won’t say no to locking my knot deep inside of her wet walls. Basically, I want to be as close to her as I possibly can, not a single part of her not touching me.

“You better believe it, Alpha,” she replies cheekily.

Yeah, fuck it. I’m knotting the hell out of her tonight.

Twenty-Eight

Ripley

I wake one morning not feeling so great. My body is achy and warm. I also feel... moody. A little agitated. Partially because I wake up all alone, even though I know for sure I went to bed pillowed against Syn’s soft breasts with Knight spooning me from behind.

Now, I’m alone in the middle of Knight’s bed and the spots he and Syn occupied have gone cold, telling me they’ve been gone for a while. River didn’t even sneak in and crawl under the covers to cuddle with me like he normally does.

An annoyed huff leaves me as I push myself out from under the covers so I can find something to put on over my bra and panties. After pulling on one of Knight’s T-shirts I find lying around, I leave his room and walk downstairs. It’s silent, with none of the usual liveliness or chatter in the kitchen over breakfast. It takes several minutes of me searching around downstairs to realize nobody is down there.

Where the hell is everyone?

I go in search of my phone to call one of them, finding it sitting on one of the side tables in the living room. Thinking logically, I know that Syn and Knight probably had to work and Nico, I’m sure, had a client, but River and Kian should at least be here.

A frown creases my brow when I don’t see any messages from anyone on my phone. I dial River’s number, but he doesn’t answer, annoying me. Tossing it aside on the kitchen island, I growl in frustration before I go back to searching through the house. I end up back upstairs, checking each room to make sure nobody is in any of them.

I check Kian’s last, hoping at the very least he’s home.

“Kian?” I call out when I open his door, my voice wobbling.
