I don’t know why I agreed to do this. We rarely work with the Omega Center. I have occasionally, but it’s been so long since they’ve needed my help. Not since they hired a permanent planner and coordinator. I’m a freelancer, which benefits me because I get to pick the jobs I take and when I work or not.

I know Director Khan was desperate when he called me earlier. This ceremony is necessary to send the omegas off with their new packs. They look forward to it the entire time they’re in the Center.

I check in with my assistants, making sure they’ve completed all decorations, and that they organized the room the way it should be. She confirms everything is good, and I release a breath. Now to just wait on this thing to get started.

I can smell all the cloying omega scents blending already, making my nose twitch as they walk around outside, mingling with everyone. We already have our omega, so none of these scents appeal to me, but it’s still a lot. The voices of dozens of omegas all chattering excitedly at once reach my ears before I continue going around the room.

Syn finds me as I’m walking around the room for the hundredth time, making sure the microphone on the stage works clearly and all tables are acceptable. She loops her arm through mine and smiles prettily at me.

Syn is the epitome of beauty. Her kinky, dark curly hair falls past her shoulders, grazing the caramel skin of her shoulders. Her gray eyes are unnerving to most, but I find them erotic. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, and I believe it when I look into Syn’s. Every emotion and feeling she has shines brightly in her eyes as she stares back at me. I love this alpha so much, and I’m so grateful she loves me back, a lowly beta.

“I’m so ready to get back home. I’m sure Knight is done by now, and I just want to be with our omega. This place has way too many other omega scents that are clogging up my nose. Plus, all the alpha scents,” she sneezes softly, and I chuckle.

“You could have stayed home.” I point out.

She narrows her eyes at me. “And let some omega or another alpha find you and try to steal you away from us?” she scoffs. “I think not.”

I shove my nose past her hair into the crook of her neck and inhale deeply, keeping the groan I feel building inside.

“You know I don’t need any other omega or alpha. I’ve got River. And two insatiable alphas I have to keep up with. I don’t think I could entertain another omega. River nearly kills me every heat. Could you imagine two? Besides, River would throw a hissy fit if another omega tried to encroach on his territory. I’ve also got three bond marks, so if you think anyone would be crazy enough to try hitting on me with these glaring at them, then you’re crazy, baby.” I point at the three prominent and very obvious marks collaring my exposed neck.

All three wanted their marks to be noticeable. I’m not mad about it, though.

“Well...” she sniffs indignantly. “That’s beside the point.”

I laugh. “I think you just wanted to come along and be nosy, see what packs are getting a new omega.”

I continue my walkthrough with her arm in mine. Syn is... Syn, honestly. She is uniquely herself. Only with her pack, though. Nobody else sees the real her. It’s unfortunate. She’s one of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. She’s also kind of quirky. A closet true crime junkie and binge-reader of all things smut, but especially monster smut. Looking at her, you would never know she can nerd out and read some of the dirtiest shit I’ve ever seen in my life.

I mean, honestly. She read a book once with wolf-like monsters with two dicks. Two. With three of them in the harem. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have a few dicks to spare, but none of us has an extra one hiding away somewhere. We don’t judge her for reading these strange books. If anything, we encourage it simply because when she reads that crap; she gets all hot and bothered and seeks us out.

I shake my head from thinking about how wet she gets when she reads her monster porn. I don’t need to be hard as stone while stuck here.

“You know me so well, Ki.” She bats her lashes at me innocently, and I look at her with mirth, tilting my lips up and raising a brow at her.

Syn is anything but innocent.

The chatter of dozens of omegas gets louder abruptly. They’re talking to their new packs as their alphas and some betas walk them through the doors. The music picks up instantly, and Syn and I move to stand off to the side, observing. Servers come from the kitchen at my cue and start their rounds around the room, offering drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

“Is that Pack Haven?” Syn whispers in my ear, looking towards the large pack of seven alphas surrounding one tiny pixie of an omega. They dwarf her, nearly swallowing her up in the middle of them as they move as a unit through the throng of omegas, alphas, and betas in their way.

I recognize Jason and Emory quickly, smiling and waving at them. I nod, confirming it is Pack Haven, and keep my eyes roving the room. Good for them. I know Jason had told me they were courting someone finally a few months ago when we met up for drinks, but I hadn’t seen him again since, so I never knew whether the courting was proceeding well.

“Damn. She’s a waif of a thing, isn’t she? They look like they could crush her.” She winces slightly, likely thinking about those huge alphas rutting that tiny omega.

Chuckling at the imaginings of my bonded, I pull her closer. Finally, it seems everyone has made it and takes their seats at their tables, excited smiles, and perfumes filling the room. Alpha scents thicken around me, but I breathe through it. I see we aren’t the only ones ready to be home with our omega. Horny alphas and omegas all packed into one room. I don’t know who thought of that bright idea. They might want to hurry this ceremony along, to be honest.

I remember when we were courting River. That was a few years ago now, but man, was it such a rush. I’d joined the pack a couple of years before we courted him. Everyone agreed we needed an omega to complete our pack. The first time around courting someone wasn’t a pleasant experience, so I was nervous when we first met him. But River smashed all those nerves to pieces. He was everything we’d hoped for and more. He’s so loving and kind, seeing us all for who we are and not for our designations. He can be a complete brat when he wants to be, but I think he’s the perfect blend of brat and sweetheart.

I glance over at Syn and see the tiny curl to her lips. “Remember when we were here just a few years ago with River?” She leans in and whispers to me.

I quirk a grin at her and reply, “I was just thinking about that, actually. Best feeling and day of my life, bringing him home with us.”

She chuckles and agrees. Joining Pack Kingston was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. Nico, Knight, and Syn are some of the best alphas I know. And no omega could be better than River, no matter how much he might exasperate us at times.

Just as I’m about to make another round, the doors open again. Two packs enter later than everyone else, one with a tall, dark-haired beauty on the head alpha’s arm, leaning into him lovingly. I recognize them as Pack Jin almost immediately. We’re all good friends with them and enjoy getting together from time to time to hang out.

The other one I recognize as Pack Hunter, though I don’t know them as well as Pack Jin. They have a male omega with them. He has a swimmer’s build and striking green eyes against his mocha skin. His hair is cropped close to his scalp, and he smiles lovingly up at his head alpha, Sasha Hunter.
