“Of course. Heard every bit of it. I’m a hard sleeper, baby, but with both of your perfumes fogging up the room and your sounds, because neither of you are quiet, plus the fact that I was laying right beside you, there’s no way I was sleeping through that. I only peeked a little.” His grin is lascivious, without a hint of remorse or shame, making me smile and shake my head.

River’s hands run along my back, tickling me, and I sigh. He does this for several minutes before he cracks a palm against my ass. I squeal, my hand going back to cover the spot he smacked. Nico laughs, and River tosses me onto the bed, jumping up, his eyes sparkling with mirth. My ass stings, and I just know if I look in a mirror, there will be a handprint there. Nico tugs me into his arms and presses his naked body against mine as I glare at River.

“What’d you do that for?” I growl at him as Nico’s lips travel along my neck and down my shoulder.

“Time to get up Little Bird. Enough playtime for now. We’ve got a busy day full of packing ahead of us. Oh! And shopping for your room!” He bounces on his toes excitedly, before running out of the room and screaming down the hallway butt ass naked, “It’s move in time, people! My omega is officially moving in. This is not a drill.”

“Oh, my gods,” I groan, giggling into the pillow closest to me.

Nico smiles against my shoulder before running a finger along the fresh bite on my neck. It’s tender and a little sore, but otherwise not bothering me.

“Welcome home, Kitten,” he whispers against my cheek.

I throw myself onto the bed in my room at my parent’s, sighing in exhaustion. I just finished closing up my last box, and I’m fucking tired now. River meant business. I should have known the minute he knew I was moving in that he’d have us get started immediately. My body is deliciously sore in some places from all our fun together and disgustingly sore in others from packing and lifting boxes. Not that my doing that lasted long. The alphas growled so much at me every time I picked a box up that I eventually just left it to them. They’ve all been in and out of my room for the last few hours, carrying my stuff down to Knight’s truck and the pack Suburban.

Kian has been the best helper, assisting me while I packed everything I wanted to take with me. River and Syn have been spending time with Mom. She coaxed them away not long after we arrived, and I gave her the news. She cried, of course, but insisted they were happy tears before she proceeded to hug every single one of them, squeezing Syn the tightest. Syn looked surprised at first before she hugged my mom back as best as she could with how much taller than her she is.

My dads were... Well, they were happy for me. Maybe a little vexed that everything went from zero to a hundred within the span of eighteen or so hours, but they all hugged me and shook the other’s hands. Pops might have threatened bodily harm to the guys, minus River, if they ever hurt me, but other than that, I’d say everything went swell.

Kian perches on the edge of the bed by my legs, and I tilt my head to look at him. He’s looking everywhere in the room but at me, pretending to be fascinated by the dozens of pictures that fill the corkboard above my desk. I nudge him with my thigh, getting his attention.

“Thanks for helping me. I didn’t quite realize how much stuff I had,” I tell him, wanting to start a conversation however I can.

His cheeks pinken slightly, his emerald depths, covered by black-framed glasses, sear into me as he looks his fill of me laid out on my chaotic comforter. I love it. I can see it in there. He wants me, but he’s worried. Indecision wars inside of him before he seems to come to a decision. I hold my breath, hoping since we’re alone for the moment, he’ll finally cave.

Come on, Kian. Take that step, I think to myself.

“It’s no problem, Starlight.” His voice is a whisper, like he’s almost afraid to say it, but he does, and that’s a step. A nickname is definitely a step in the right direction.

I grin at him, sitting up and crawling to where he sits. “You just gave me a nickname.”

He laughs, that subtle pine scent of his invading my senses, but stops when he realizes how close my face is to his, my nose nearly touching his. I’m ready to barrel into Kian’s boundaries and knock them aside if it means he finally comes to his senses.

“I like it.” My breath fans out against his lips, and I watch as a shiver rolls through him. “You gonna kiss me too, Kian? I’ve been waiting for an awfully long while. You know omegas aren’t known for their patience,” I whisper, keeping my eyes on his.

He swallows, his eyes looking deep into mine to find the sincerity there. “You want me to kiss you, Starlight?”

“So bad.”

“Why me?”

The question startles me, and I pull back slightly, my brow furrowing.

“Why not you is a better question, Kian. I love everything about you, down to how damn stubborn you are. You have the patience of a saint, you love your pack, and you make me smile when you rib the others or tease Syn when you catch her reading her monster porn.” He snorts at that, and I smile before continuing. “I still stand by the fact that you cheated when we played Mortal Kombat a few weeks ago when I stayed over, but you’re a fun gaming partner.”

“I did not cheat.” He rolls his eyes at me.

“You totally did, but I’m willing to let bygones be bygones.” I grin as he huffs out a laugh. “Back to what I was saying. I still have a lot to learn about you, Kian. All of you. But what I know about you so far? I love it. You’re also sexy as hell, sugar lips.” I smirk to hide the fact that, internally, I am screaming at myself for essentially telling this man that I love him when we haven’t even kissed yet!

The ‘L’ bombs are dropping out all willy-nilly now, apparently. It works, though, I think.

The laugh that bubbles from him is loud and infectious. “Please, never call me that again.”

“Why not? I thought it was cute.” I pout.

“Absolutely not.”
