His scent gets stronger, which in turn has Ripley’s following suit as they gaze at one another. I awkwardly clear my throat, shuffling in my seat, because, well… If they’re gonna fuck, I do not need to be here for all that.

Ripley snorts at me when she finally stops eye fucking her omega and leans forward to give him a peck on the lips, which makes him look up at her with an adoring smile. When he’s finally able to pull his gaze away from her and she settles back in his arms, he looks at me.

“I heard some of what you said. How about some advice from the omega that already had a pack and then brought in another omega?” River asks, raising a brow in my direction.

I sit up straighter, giving him a hopeful expression. “Please.”

“Okay, well, first off. Close your eyes and imagine this omega in a nest with you and your alphas. Particularly your nest. Can you envision her there without it making your skin want to crawl?”

I do as he says, and as I picture it heat flares in my gut and a growl nearly pushes past my lips at the thought of a naked Shade in my nest of blankets and clothes, giving me a sultry look while waiting on me. I clear my throat and nod my head.

“Good. Now picture her with one, or all, of your alphas. Does it make you want to commit homicide?”

I can practically hear the laughter in River’s tone, but I know it’s not at my expense. Just amusement at the thought he suggested. So, again, I do as he says and picture Shade in my nest, tangled together with my alphas.

My eyes flash open fast, and I can feel my cheeks get warm. My cock is semi hard in my jeans, and I have to shift to get comfortable, which sends a waft of my perfume in their direction. Ripley snorts and I clear my throat, glaring at her.

“Guess that answers that. Have you talked to your alphas about this?” River asks after he chokes on a laugh.

“We talked a little about it the day I met her. They’re not against it; they just want me to be cautious and not to get my hopes up, just in case.”

“Well, it sounds like you pretty much have it all figured out. Now you just need to find out if she wants what you want,” River says with a shrug and an easy grin.

“What if she doesn’t call?” I say, biting my lip.

Ripley smirks. “She’ll call, Gabey Wabey.”

“But what if she doesn’t?”

Ripley shakes her head, chuckling. “If she doesn’t, then she doesn’t deserve you. But I’m telling you she will.”

Ripley says this so matter-of-factly, like she has zero doubt in her mind that Shade is going to call. That makes my heart beat a little faster as optimism fills me. I’m able to calm myself enough to hang out with Ripley and check in on how she’s been since everything happened a few months ago.

Ripley ended up getting kidnapped not long after she bonded with her pack. There was some crazy ass alpha that had a serious dislike for one of hers. I won’t go into too much detail, but from what I understand, shit got crazy, and Ripley ended up saving not only herself but another omega who happens to be much frailer and more withdrawn than anyone I’ve ever met.

Cozy is a sweet, shy creature who’s still healing from a shit ton of trauma, so I’ve only met her twice. She and Ripley bonded, and now she’s about the only one that can get Cozy to push out of her comfort zone as she tries to navigate her new life.

I hope things continue to get better for her. She really is such a sweet girl, and you can’t help but want to take all of her hurt away just to see her smile. I have no doubt that once Cozy comes out of her shell, our little bunch of misfits will thoroughly corrupt her.

I know if anyone can get someone to open up, it’s Ripley. She has a way of making you feel completely heard, and she actually listens to you. That’s why I’ve always loved her—just not in the way I’d always thought I did, apparently.

Ripley seems happy, at peace, and perfectly content.

The love she has for her pack, and the love they have for her in return, is something beautiful. I’m happy for her.

And for a brief moment, I can envision it’s me and Shade on the couch with my alphas surrounding us.

I’m knocked out of the vision when my phone vibrates in my back pocket. When I pull it out and glance down, I see a number I don’t know. My brows crease as I hit accept and put the speaker to my ear.

“Hello?”

I hear someone suck in a breath and it takes them several moments to answer. When they do, my eyes go wide as saucers.

“Gabriel? It’s Shade. You, uh, you said to call you if I needed anything…”

I sit up straight, my spine locking as everything inside of me comes alive when I hear her voice.

“And what is it you need, Doe?” I breathe out, my gut twisting as I wait.
