“I can’t afford this.” I am fairly sure this is where he lives, but he’s not giving me much to work with and I don’t like charity. “Anyway, I’m always careful. I carry my mace and—”

He cuts me off, bending my head back to look up into his brilliant eyes. “The fact that you think you need to carry mace only makes me more sure you’re never going back there. And money isn’t a concern. That’s the end of the conversation.”

“You’re bossy.”

“I can be.”

The elevator dings and he presses his finger to the sensor on the panel. Almost instantly, the doors swoosh open, and I step into a new life, a life I still don’t completely understand.

CHAPTER 14

JACKSON

My back is tense, my pulse frantic as we exit the elevator into the back entryway of my penthouse.

I hear her draw a sharp breath as she looks around. My preparations have been carried out perfectly. Alice hasn’t forgiven me for being an asshole the other day, but she is still the best at what she does and would never let me down.

Candles flicker on every flat surface, illuminating the wide-open living area and the thousands of vases full of every pink and green flower in Manhattan sit everywhere.

“This is…beautiful. Pink and green are my favorite colors too.”

“I know. I took note.”

Her voice shakes along with her fluttering hands, pushing out the end of the sleeves of my suit jacket, looking like a perfect little girl. I stifle the urge to lay her down right here and take her completely, but I need to wait.

I step behind her and reach for my jacket. She releases it as soon as I pull it away, offering no resistance, and in an instant she's naked, glowing perfection in the middle of the candlelit apartment.

Her eyes flutter as she looks up at me. “I can’t believe someone would do this for me.” She smiles, crinkling her nose. “Wait, this is for me... isn’t it?”

“Yes, good girl, it’s all for you and this is nothing.” I stroke her cheek. “I’m going to lay the world at your feet.”

She turns toward me, and I draw a deep breath pulling her close. Her breasts crush onto my shirtfront. Her hands trail up my body as she presses her soft little belly against my thick erection, making me growl. Stroking her bare arms, her neck, her back, I reach down to cup her ass and dig my nails in. I bare my teeth as I savor the delicious curves filling my palms.

She lifts her mouth for a kiss, and I relish the feel and taste of her.

I pull back, tugging her by my side, walking this stunning girl around the open kitchen first.

“Wow, again.”

“All for you.”

On the gleaming white granite counter there are bags of flower, sugar, cake pans, a new commercial copper KitchenAid mixer, measuring cups, spoons…everything I could think she might need to be twirling around this kitchen baking, I had delivered.

“This is crazy.” Her hands press to her cheeks as I keep the tour going, showing her around the guest bedrooms. My office. A comfortable little home theatre and then onto the terrace. She covers her breasts as the early evening air hits her body.

I shake my head.

“No one but me gets to see you, baby. I’d kill anyone who laid eyes on your body. Every inch of you exists for me.”

Her shoulders straighten. She squeezes one breast lightly before releasing it. I notice the twinkling gleam in her eyes.

I turn her to head back inside the terrace glass doors. “There’s more to see.”

I pull her behind me along the living room and push open the massive double doors that lead to the bedroom that will now be ours.

She sucks in a breath, her eyes wide. “Wow. Again. Wow number three.”

“We can redecorate it however you’d like. I think your fuzzy beanbag chair would look great over by the window.”

When I moved here five years ago, I took a few hours, looked through some recent Architectural Digest magazines and picked out a decorator who had just finished remodeling and decorating some whop-tee-do old-money trust-fund brat’s penthouse not far from my building. I didn’t care about the who’s who of it all, but I wanted my place warm and inviting but polished and sleek.

As well, I didn’t want to waste a lot of my time on the back and forth, do you like this, do you like that…I wanted to point to a few pictures, say ‘this is what I like, now make it happen, here’s your budget’ then get back to work.

That’s what I did, and the caramel, off-white, warm wood and bright modern art have been comfortable for me. But if Chastity wants the place to look like an old farmhouse or a gold-gilded Austrian palace, so be it.
