Or perhaps it had always been like this. Had I ever actually been in this room before? I thought it had been just plain. White walls, no real furniture. A blank slate.

Now, the walls were painted a soft green with white stripes, a huge, ruffled canopy bed sat off angled in one corner with layers of pastel bedding and pillows. A crystal chandelier covered with tiny pink glass flowers spun slowly in the center of the room, casting beautiful, soft light onto everything.

There were stuffed animals scattered around and a wall with shelves filled with hardback books and art supplies. Two oversized armchairs flanked a fireplace above which hung a painting of me wearing a long pink dress like I was a Renaissance princess complete with a black and white pony standing by my side.

Adam walked me over to a double door that opened into a walk in closed filled with dresses and clothes, shoes and other stuffed animals filling a wall of shelves.

“Do you like it?” He stood behind me, his heavy, strong hands on my shoulders as I took in the room in shocked awe.

“How did you do this without me knowing?”

Standing off in the corner was the biggest, fluffiest white teddy bear I had ever seen. I could sit in its lap and only come up to the bottom of its soft, furry chin.

“I’ve got people.” He gave me a little squeeze. “I remember you told me when you were little you always wanted a teddy bear that was big enough to put its arms around you. And a pony. I made the teddy bear happen, but the pony,” he nodded at the painting, “that’s as far as I got on that. For now.”

I was overwhelmed with a contrast of emotions. Tears released down my cheeks in hot little rivers. I felt gratitude, love and warmth, combined with my own trepidation and confusion.

“Adam…” Everywhere I looked there was something else that drew my eye. A giant rocking horse, a garden mural painted on one wall with tiny flying fairies and butterflies in the blue sky. “I don’t know what to say…”

“Well, I’m afraid this is the good news. This was something I wanted to give you under different circumstances, but here we are. But, you, little girl, have been very bad. Daddy wanted to show you your room, but now you need to be punished for being naughty.” He spun me slowly around to face him. His devastatingly sexy face looking down.

“You need to know how much I love you. That I love you enough to hold the line. To set the boundaries and enforce them. Lying is unacceptable. Don’t ever lie to me again.”

“Spanking?”

“Tough love, baby girl. Tough love. But, your ass is still sore. I think you’re going to get to experience another sort of punishment.”

“Worse than a spanking?” I asked, watching his lips press together in thought.

“Depends on your perspective, baby.”

A rush of fear along with a tingle of arousal flowed in my veins at the sound of his low voice. Adam peeled off my blouse, unhooked my bra then tossed them to the floor. There was a fire already burning behind those blue of his eyes, but I knew he was on a mission and I didn’t dare try to distract him this time. Nor, did I want to.

As I stood like a statue, he pulled down my skirt and panties, then gestured for me to step out of the clothes that had gathered at my ankles. I stood naked as he traced the tips of his fingers down my sternum, then lifted each breast as if he were inspecting them, tipping his head to the side as he held the weight, squeezing then releasing until somehow, he was satisfied with what he saw.

He stared in silence as I shivered under his penetrating gaze.

“Down you go, little one.” He pointed to the floor. “On your hands and knees.”

I crinkled my nose on a squint, but Adam raised his eyebrows and gave me a look I understood.

I slowly lowered myself to the carpeted floor, squaring myself with palms flat and knees straight under my hips, then I tilted my head to look way up at Adam.

“So, I have to ask, when we’re…you know, like this, I’m supposed to be little and you’re obviously Daddy. Am I like a kid or, does it not matter? I’m still just not sure I understand it all…”

I watched as the smallest of smiles curved his lips, his blue eyes softening.

“Think about it for a minute…you like feeling like a little kid? Perhaps a bratty ‘tween’?” He kept his eyes on me as he stepped toward my rear end, raising his foot and tapping the tip of his shoe against my sore bottom.

“Well, it’s such a strange question.” I paused as he walked back around, circling me with that inspecting sort of look again, then he crouched down and brushed some hair behind my ear, just like he did that first night when he dropped me off on my porch. “I guess, more like a little kid. Like a toddler maybe. But, not an older kid either. Small enough I can still crawl on Daddy’s lap and have him read me a bedtime story. I remember when I was little, I had this dream that my dad would come home, and every night he would bring me a new book, slip next to me in bed and read it until I fell asleep. Stupid, what you think about when your little, right?” The sadness of that old fantasy formed a lump in my throat.
