“No,” Easton says, shaking his head. “I know what you’re thinking, and it’s a bad idea. Zade is protective over his food. He doesn’t share.”

“Well, lucky for me, I’m not planning on sharing. I’m taking back what’s mine, and you’re either with me or not. What’s it going to be?”

“You’re gonna get yourself killed,” Dalton warns.

I laugh, a smug grin stretching across my lips. “It’s not like he can kill me twice, right?”

Easton blows his cheeks out, still shaking his head when he presses his lips into a tight line, indecision flashing in his stormy eyes. “Fuck,” he grunts, striding past me and back to the door. “The shit I do for you, Pretty.”

Excitement booms through my chest as I spin on my heels and follow Easton back inside, only to find Sawyer and Dalton coming along for the ride.

“You gotta play this smart,” Dalton says as we stand around the dining table as though this is one of the most important meetings we’ll ever have. “You can’t just walk up to him and take it. He’ll see it coming a million miles away. You’ve gotta be a ghost. In and out without him even noticing.”

“How the fuck is he not going to notice her taking the plate right out of his fucking hands?” Sawyer questions.

“Hmmm,” Easton says, leaning back as he rubs his hand down his face. “I think I’ve got it.”

My brow arches as all eyes turn to Easton, and we listen as he quickly relays his plan, which is exactly how I end up lying across a skateboard with a rope attached to my ankle.

The smell of my burger assaults my senses, and I will my stomach not to grumble, but damn it’s hard, especially as I peek through the opening of the den and watch the way Zade grabs my burger with those big, skilled hands and lifts it to his mouth.

Goddamn. Who does he think he is eating my burger?

Glancing back, I meet the boys’ stares. “It’s now or never,” I tell them. “Let’s do this.”

Easton nods, and with that, he strides into the den, proving once and for all what a strong man he really is, risking his life for my burger when we could have easily just ordered a new one, but that’s beside the point. This is based on principle. That’s my burger, and if anyone is going to sink their face into it and lick the delicious juices off their fingers, it’s gonna be me.

“Yo, you got a second?” Easton says, keeping Zade distracted as I start to roll out into the den, my heart thundering a million miles per hour. “I need to run something by you.”

“Yeah, what’s up?” Zade responds, still holding onto the burger.

Damn, that was supposed to be Zade’s cue to put the burger down. Easton’s going to have to try harder than that.

I keep inching closer to the couch, my gaze locked heavily on the plate resting on the cushion beside him. This isn’t going to be easy, and so far, it’s not going exactly to plan, but I have to have faith that we can pull this off.

Easton walks across the front of the couch and drops down on the opposite side, keeping Zade’s attention on him. “It’s about Oakley,” he says, a strange tone in his voice. “I wanna take her out tonight.”

“Ahh, fuck, Cross. Why do you have to go and make shit complicated? You know that’s out of the question,” Zade mutters with a heavy sigh before putting the burger back down on the plate to give Easton his full attention, completely oblivious to the elation pounding through my veins.

“Come on, man. It’s one night,” Easton continues as I hold my breath, slowly creeping closer, hoping like fuck he can’t hear the subtle sound of the skateboard wheels moving along the tiles. “I was just gonna take her back to my place, maybe cook her dinner or some shit like that.”

“I don’t know,” Zade says as I move in right behind him, my hands shaking. “It’s too risky. You know that. Why can’t you just cook her dinner here? Why do you need to take her out? It’s not like she’s the type of girl who needs a man to treat her like a fucking princess to get on her knees. You know she’ll still fuck you at the end of the night. Fancy dinner or not.”

Ouch. Asshole.

Resisting the urge to smack him up the back of his head, I slowly begin to creep my hand up the couch, mere inches away from my lunch.

“It’s not like I’m planning on showing her off in the middle of the city or waving her around like a fucking target. It’s dinner in the confines of my home,” Easton says. “She’s got four nights left. Don’t you think she deserves to enjoy them? And besides, my place is like a fucking fortress. It’s probably got more security measures than this fucking penthouse.”
