Page 133 of Rescuing Kaye

“Understood.” Brady waves to us and we fade back from the edge of the clearing, becoming one with the forest.

Using hand signals, he directs us to spread out and position ourselves in an arc around the front of the cabin.

Charlie team will watch the rear, and the Rufi will do what they do best.

I snuggle into a depression in the ground and sight my weapon on the front door. With the shutters drawn, we’re blind to the movements of Scott and Alder, but only in the visual spectrum.

Mitzy feeds us everything the dragonflies see and maps out the interior of the cabin.

Meanwhile, we wait.

For hours.

But eventually, the sun sets and darkness falls.

We continue to wait, however, until we’re in the thick of night. I blink against fatigue, but there’s enough adrenaline flowing through my veins to push back my exhaustion.

The smaller figure in the back room, Kaye, hasn’t moved all day. Scott and Alder, on the other hand, pace the length of the cabin. The IR feed isn’t as discrete as our night vision goggles, but it’s clear the men alternate between arguing and sitting still.

“Bravo One—report.” CJ’s voice snaps me to immediate alertness.

“Ready to roll.”

“Mission’s a go. Repeat. Mission’s a go.” CJ shouts through the comms and I snap to full alert.

Time for Bravo team to do what we do best.

Brady gives the signal and we cross the open space of the meadow, blending in with the shadows. We move as a unit, a single organism with our weapons raised and ready to fire.

Brady leads the way, followed by the rest of our team. Brady and Booker creep up the steps of the front porch, careful not to make a sound. Rafe follows with a ram.

I move into position with an enhanced night vision scope mounted to my rifle. I train my weapon on the door.

Rafe holds the ram against the wood door, and nods to Brady, signaling he’s ready.

Brady holds three fingers in the air.

The countdown starts.

Three-Two-One.

Rafe takes a deep breath and slams the ram against the door. It splinters under the power of the ram, instantly snapping open with a loud crack that echoes through the night.

The first few seconds of an assault are critical. We have to get inside before Scott and the dean can react.

Hayes is first man in. He crosses the threshold and takes up position against the wall, aiming his weapon at the man on the right, who happens to be Dean Alder.

I’m right on his heels, but instead of moving into the main room, I shift left.

It puts me closest to the hall leading toward the room where Kaye’s being held. We take care of hostiles first, but I’m not wasting a second more when it comes to Kaye. I train my weapon on Scott, and slow my breathing, ready to take the shot.

Brady and Booker fold in behind me while Rafe guards our backs.

We catch Scott and the dean by surprise, and by surprise I mean Scott’s no beta to Dean Alder’s alpha. He’s an omega, and we catch him performing fellatio on the dean.

The men cry out in surprise. Dean Alder springs back, tucking his dick into his pants as Scott reaches for a weapon.

“Don’t do it.” I give him a chance—a choice really—we need one of them alive.
