Mischief twinkles in his green eyes and he cocks his head to the side. “I am a little hot now that we’re here.”

“In Hawaii?”Not alone in this room with me with a giant bed about seven feet away.

He laughs softly, “Yeah.”

“Maybe we should get changed for dinner.” I look at my phone and see it is almost six o’clock.

“You can take the bedroom. I’ll change out here.” Theo grabs my bags and places them on the bed and he closes the doors on his way to the living room.

I rush into the bathroom and splash some cold water on my face. I am as red as a tomato, and I can’t even blame it on the sun. I don’t burn so there goes that convenient excuse.

I compose myself enough to grab a green sundress out of my bag and change. I swap my sneakers for the pair of wedge heels Eve demanded I take “just in case”. I hate that she is always right. But I am grateful to have them.

I take a deep breath and reach for the door handle to go back to the living room. Before I even realize, I’ve swung the doors open and Theo is standing in the living room shirtless.

“Oh, I’m sorry! I should – I should have knocked. I forgot… I mean I knew you were in here. I just forgot you would be changing.”

HELLFIRE.

Theo’s left arm is covered in black and grey tattoos from just over his muscular shoulder all the way down to about his mid forearm. I was excited at the possibility of seeing just one tattoo on his forearm. This is just too much. And it is suddenly hot as Hades in this room.

My. Good. Lord. Does he have a six-pack?

Hell. Hell. Hell. Cate, stop staring!

Theo flashes his perfect smile my way. I try to swallow, but my throat is so dry I nearly choke. He quickly pulls a polo shirt over his head and covers the wonder that is his body.

“It’s ok.” He runs his hand through his dark hair and chuckles. “It could have been worse.”

“How?” I ask as casually as I can, but I want to scream.

“I could have walked in on you.”

I laugh but it isn’t a sexy, oh, stop it you flirt, laugh. No, it’s more like a chortle of me being hot and bothered and yet awkward and uncomfortable. Why am I like this?

I clear my throat and try to find something to do with my hands and settle on resting them on my hips. “Well, should we uh… you know?”

Theo’s eyebrows raise and I realize how that must have sounded.

My hands shoot up to my blushing face and I rub the sides of my neck. “I meant, should we head downstairs for dinner?”

“After you,” he motions to the front door, and I practically run over there.

He holds the door open for me and we take three steps across the hall to the elevator. I push the UP button and then see his hand slowly move forward and press the DOWN button.

I dare a glance over at him and he is staring straight at the elevator doors with a smirk. I’ll give him credit, he hasn’t ditched me or run for the hills yet.

The doors open with a ding, and we step inside.

“Should I press the button, or would you like to visit floors other than the lobby?” Theo stifles a laugh and leans against the back of the elevator railing.

“Very funny,” I shake my head and roll my eyes. I stick my finger out to press the L button but end up hitting the 3rdfloor button right above it. “Don’t. Say. A. Word.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it.”

I don’t have to look at him to know the corners of his eyes are crinkled.

I quickly push the L button and we make the trip in silence, standing so close to one another we can hear each other breathing.
