“Cate, darling,” Athena kisses both of my cheeks. “I hope you don’t judge my family too harshly once these Wedding Games begin. My children tend to be extremely, uh, competitive.”

I laugh and elbow Theo in his ribs. “I’ve been warned.”

“And you still agreed to come!” Athena squeals in glee and shock. “You are a good sport, my darling. A good sport, indeed.”

I lean close to her and whisper, “Don’t tell anyone, but I’m extremely competitive myself.”

She strings her arm around mine. “I knew I liked you the moment Theo brought you home.”

“Just so you know, Cate,” Steven chimes in as the elevator doors open and we pile inside. “We Bennetts have already placed bets on which team is going to win the Wedding Games. Team Bride or Team Groom. My money is on you girls. So, I am going to need you to kindly but efficiently, kick my sons’ asses.”

I giggle and nudge Theo again. “Don’t worry, Steven, I fully intend to kick at least one of your son’s asses today.”

“Is that so?” Theo pokes me in the side, and I wiggle away.

“Oh, absolutely.” I purse my lips and nod my head. “I’m the type of person that thinks second place is just a fancy way to say first loser.”

“Oh, I love her!” Athena claps her hands together. “Theo, you might have your hands full with this one.”

“Nothing I can’t handle.” He stares down at me, a wicked grin sliding across his face.

“I welcome the challenge.” I smirk, leaning into his body.

The elevator doors open to the lobby and Caleb, Sarah, and Tess are already waiting with a few people who I assume are Sarah’s family members.

“Cate!” Sarah waves me forward. “I want you to meet my family.” She takes my hand in hers and leads me over. “Ok, so Cate, this is my dad, Mark, and my mom, Elizabeth.”

I extend my hand to shake theirs and express my delight at meeting them. Then Sarah directs me to meet her siblings.

“This is my older sister, Ruth and her husband, Drew. They have a couple little kids who are probably tearing through the hotel right about now.” She teases.

“It’s nice to meet you both,” I tilt my head in a slight bow motion.

“You as well!” Ruth beams. “Sarah has been texting me all about you. So glad you could be here for my sister’s big day.”

She and Sarah look like they could be twins but they quickly explain Ruth is less than a year older than Sarah and that is why they’re so close.

“Do you have any siblings?” Ruth asks.

“No,” I shake my head. “I’m an only child.”

“Sometimes I wish I was an only child,” Ruth hip bumps Sarah and the way they smile at each other burns a hole through my chest.

“Well, hello, gorgeous.” Isaac strolls up casually and drags his sunglasses down to the tip of his round nose and takes my hand in his. “I’mverypleased to meet you.”

“Cate, this is my little brother, Isaac.” Sarah rolls her eyes. “Please, excuse how forward he is. He clearly has no idea that you didn’t come on this trip by yourself.” She grits her teeth and pinches his arm with the last bit.

“Ouch,” he swats at her. “That hurt.”

“Good.” Sarah snorts. “For your information, Cate is Theo’s girlfriend.” She whispers in his ear, but I can’t help but overhear her say, “Keep your hands and eyes to yourself.”

I stifle a laugh watching petite Sarah scold her much taller brother. From what Theo told me, Isaac is the youngest of four, with three older sisters. He is not much younger than me at twenty-five. But still, younger than I would personally accept in a mate. Not that he is an option. I am here with Theo. But Isaac is not bad looking. I would bet every cent I own Eve would be all over him.

“It’s nice to meet you, Isaac.” I nod my head politely.

“I hope you all didn’t start the party without me.” A woman struts up to the group wearing the teeniest bikini I have ever seen. She has a see-through coverall draped over her, but she might as well not have worn it at all. She hugs Ruth and Sarah before poking Isaac in the ribs.

“Cate, this is my younger sister, Leah.” Sarah introduces us.
