“How about this one?” I point the remote at the television and he cocks his head down to look at me. A smirk on his perfect face.

“Very funny.”

“I thought you might like this one.” I smile up at him and he kisses my forehead.

“I’m game if you’re game.”

I press the PLAY button and we cozy up into each other’s warm bodies. The Fellowship of the Ringfades into view and I close my eyes. I fall asleep in his safe and protective arms.

Chapter Nineteen

A loud, rapid knock on our suite door jars me from sleep. The morning light pours in through the windows causing me to squint. I feel someone move next to me and jump slightly when I see Theo rubbing his eyes.

I didn’t watch more than fifteen minutes of the first installment ofThe Lord of the Rings Trilogylast night, but he had stayed anyway.

Hell. He is just waking up and still looks like some Versace model.

I dare a glance over at the mirror through the bathroom door and grimace. I mean, I could look worse. I see his face next to mine in the reflection and he is smiling.

I look over my shoulder and he is resting his elbow on his knee, watching me. “Good morning.”

Theo chuckles. “Good morning.”

The knocking gets louder and more urgent. Theo rolls his eyes and mumbles something under his breath.

“What?” I ask as he scoots out of bed and heads for the door but he either doesn’t hear me or doesn’t want to answer. When he opens the door, Athena and Tess barge in jabbering a million words a minute.

Athena kisses Theo’s cheeks. “Ahh, you smell like you haven’t brushed your teeth this morning.”

“That’s because I haven’t.” He runs his fingers through his disheveled hair as Tess snorts out a laugh at Athena’s expense.

“Disgusting, Theo.” Athena frowns and shakes her head. “Go brush your teeth.”

Theo walks over to the bathroom where I am already furiously brushing my teeth before Mama Athena calls me out.

“We are here for Cate,” Tess glides into the bedroom. She smiles seeing the messy sheets. Her gaze shifts to me coming out of the bathroom and her grin widens at the sight of my I-just-got-out-of-bed appearance. “Looks like someone had a late night.”

Athena bounds around the corner. “Cate, darling!” She kisses both of my cheeks. “Come. We ladies are getting ready in Sarah’s suite.”

Theo is leaning against the bathroom doorframe, brushing his teeth. “Is Caleb getting ready there too since it’s technically his suite as well?” He spits and rinses his mouth.

Athena clicks her tongue at him. “What a question. Of course not! It’s bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding. Everyone knows this, Theo.”

“The groomsmen and Drew will be getting ready in here.” Tess grabs an uneaten candy bar and takes a bite. “Caleb said you wouldn’t mind.”

“I’m sure he did.” Theo laughs, his back against the door, arms folded over his chest. “Before anyone comes over, I need to hop in the shower. Tell Caleb they can swing by in ten.”

But that is a short-lived request because a thunderous knock echoes through the room and loud, manly voices boom on the other side of our door.

“Let me guess.” Theo cocks his head to the side and Tess laughs.

“Maybe you should go and answer the door, Theo.” Tess wiggles her eyebrows, finishing the candy bar.

Theo reluctantly makes his way back to the door to open it before they can break the door down. Caleb, Liam, Isaac, and Drew pour inside, loud and buzzed.

“THEO!!!!” They yell as one and hug him.

“Wow.” Theo shakes his head, giving Tess the evil eye. “I’m so glad you all could stop by on such short notice.”
