“You’d lose.”

He pats my thighs. “I know.”

I lean down and kiss him once more. “I can’t believe you were willing to come with me to my party.”

Theo exhales the sexiest sigh I have ever heard. I didn’t even know one could sound that amazing in one breath.

“I’m pretty sure you have me at your mercy, Catalina.”

“Like last night.” I wiggle my eyebrows playfully.

His warm laugh floods my heart. “I’ll never look at my office the same way again.”

“Glad you spared no expense on furnishing the place.” I tap him on his nose with a giggle.

Theo wraps his arms around me, bringing me closer. “I will have to furnish all of my offices like this from now on.” He winks. “Just in case you want to visit.”

His lips touch mine and when he slips his tongue in my mouth, I am rocketed to the moon. I splay my fingers through his hair and let his hands explore my body.

My phone chimes several times in a row and I pull away from him to see who it is.

“I’m sorry,” I kiss his lips quickly before leaning to grab my phone off the floor.

Eve: Where are you?

Eve: Tommy said you never came home last night.

Eve: Have you been kidnapped?

Eve: If you’re hiding so I don’t force you to go to the New Year’s Eve party tonight, you’ve got another thing coming.

Eve: If you don’t respond soon, I’m going to put up fliers around the city with your picture on them. And I’ll make sure it’s the picture of you the night we went bar hopping and you spilled red slushie all over your white dress.

Eve: You have five minutes to reply.

I roll my eyes and giggle. In true Ma fashion, she has managed to stress, threaten, and make me laugh with just a few messages. My fingers tap out a response quickly. Theo is still brushing his hands up and down my bare thighs and I am eager to get back to him.

Cate: Wasn’t kidnapped. I’m with Theo. I’ll be home soon and promise to tell you all about it.

Eve: PRAISE!

I notice the time in the top corner of my phone and can’t believe it’s almost noon.

“I’m going to have to get going.” I look down at Theo and hate myself already for leaving him. “I promised Eve we’d get ready for the New Year’s Eve party together.”

“You can invite your roommates to join us here if you’d like.” Theo offers, his hands sending shivers up my spine with each pass of his fingers on my legs.

“They’d probably be thrilled. Especially Tommy. I’m pretty sure he has a man crush on you. Or maybe it’s just a foodie crush.”

Theo laughs. “Well, food and drinks are provided.”

“Oh my gosh, I almost forgot!” I slap my hands to my forehead. “Tommy is planning to propose to his girlfriend, Lauren, tonight at the party.”

Theo sits up, still holding me firmly on his lap, and kisses my neck. “Tell Tommy that if he brings Lauren here tonight and proposes, I’ll have champagne ready and they can have a romantic dinner for two, on the house, opening night.”

“You would do that?” I ask, my eyelids closing as his lips brush against my neck again.

“Absolutely,” he whispers in my ear.
