"I know, but it's been ages since I last saw you outside the confinement of the iron bars of that prison,"

"That is so true, nice to finally have you back," he glared at Kayla who hadn't moved an inch nor said a word since her brother approached us.

"I see you have gotten reacquainted with my sister,"

I could see Kayla roll her eyes; I am sure she would rather not be the subject of our discussion.

"She has indeed changed a lot since the last time I saw her," I remarked, stealing a glance at her, trying not to make it that obvious because I was standing in front of her brother who also happened to be my best friend.

"People say that a lot, but honestly I don't see it," Mark muttered pulling Kayla to him, I see how she isn't that feisty when she is around Mark, it is almost like she is a different person. "To me, she will always be my little adorable sister,"

"I am not little, I am twenty-two," Kayla finally muttered, her voice slightly above a whisper.

I tried not to glance at her, but it was like a force of attraction kept pulling me to her, I glared at her round breast, her hips were curvaceous and not slender as I remembered them to be. Her hazel-green eyes glittered to complement her brown hair. Her lips were slightly plumped and damn, so succulent, how does one go from being nerdy to fucking hot in five years.

"So, I forgot to tell you, Kayla," Mark said, snapping me back to reality.

"What is that Mark?" Kayla asked.

"Logan would be moving in next door to us, he bought the house that the Johnson’s moved from," I could see her hazel-green eyes widen as she tried to hide her displeasure with this piece of information. It was evident on her face that she didn't want that to happen.

"Oh! He would?" she simply said, still trying so hard to contain her lack of enthusiasm about that piece of information.

"Yes he would, it would be like the good old days, when he would come over and we would all go to school together and play in the garden,"

"Only that then, Kayla despised me with all her being," I remarked, trying to narrate my own version of the event, because we never played together, Kayla would always sit isolated in a corner glaring at us like some ugly-looking duckling while Mark and I played all day.

I am glad the duckling is now a peacock.

"I didn't despise you; you were the one always picking on me and telling me that you were older than me," she retorted, visibly angry by my statement.

In my defense, we were ten years older than she was, so indeed she was a kid.

"I don't really remember all that, but I am sure we have moved past all that?" Mark asked, staring directly at Kayla, she obviously hasn't moved past it seeing that she remembers this detail.

"Of course, I have, that was a long time ago, I have no recollection of anything that happened back then,"

She muttered, her eyes locking with mine, there was an undeniable fire that radiated from her eyes anytime she glared at me, I could feel a burning sensation, it is almost like whatever our souls are made of hers and mine are the same.

Gosh, those lips, I feel like kissing them right now.

Kayla

I tried my best to keep my cool enough to not give away my obvious annoyance, I didn't want him living close to us, and I had to deal with his arrogant ass growing up and him always treating me as a kid while I had a gigantic crush on hi,, which stayed unnoticed by him.

To Logan, I was more like a sister to him, he had no regard for me as a woman, and he would always bully all the guys at school that tried to get close to me. I perfectly recollect one time, right before when he was arrested and sent to prison, I had just clocked seventeen. I had no social life, the school nerd, a perfect "A" student working her way up to be the valedictorian of her set.

All this didn't phase me then, as I felt like an outcast in this world, I had not even had my first kiss while my peers were fucking, getting pregnant, and dropping out of school. They were living the life.

My brother threw me a birthday party and invite a few of my friends at school. The party was going to be so boring as I had no friends and one of the popular girls in school was also having her party that day.

When people got to know my dashing hot brother and his Navy friend would be around, they all boycotted the popular girl's party and came to mine.

It was crazy to see all these people in attendance, it was surreal. One of the popular boys, a jock, and captain of the football team, Jason Fisher approached me.

"Hey Kayla," he had said. I couldn't believe my eyes, Jason Fisher was talking to me, he knew my name. I glanced around to make sure that he was referring to me.
