But before I could say anything, my world shattered into chaos. A deafening gunshot echoed through the house, piercing my ears and ripping through my flesh. Pain exploded in my chest, and I crumpled to the floor. My mind was spinning, trying to make sense of what had just happened. Then I blacked out.

The detectives leaned forward; their eyes fixed on me intently. "Can you remember anything about them?" one of them asked. I took a deep breath, pushing past the fear and the pain. "Yes," I whispered. "They both wore black hoodies, and their getaway van had snake logos on it."

Their reaction was immediate, a mix of surprise and determination. "The snake logo," one of the detectives said, his voice filled with urgency. "That belongs to one of the notorious drug-dealing clans in town." I shivered at the thought, realizing that I had stumbled into something far more dangerous than I could have ever imagined. It was then I remembered it was the same logo that guy Caleb had from the fight club had.

Just as the weight of the situation began to settle in, Logan, came into the room and spoke up. "I might be able to identify them," he said, his voice resolute. "I was able to get a dashcam from one of the cars parked outside my house. It captured some footage that might be helpful." My heart skipped a beat as I grasped onto this glimmer of hope. Maybe we could actually catch these criminals and bring them to justice.

The detectives exchanged looks, and their expressions softened slightly. "That would be incredibly helpful, Logan," one of them replied. "We need all the evidence we can get to solve this case." I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards Logan for offering his assistance.

As the detectives wrapped up their interrogation, promising to keep me posted on any updates, a mix of emotions washed over me. Fear still lingered, but I also felt a newfound determination to fight back. I refused to let these criminals destroy my life and escape justice.

I lay back in my hospital bed, clutching onto hope and praying that Logan's footage would lead us closer to the truth.

I sat in the hospital room, my heart raced with a mix of anxiety and relief. The police and detective had just left, leaving behind a sense of temporary calm. Mark, my protective big brother, entered the room, his eyes filled with determination. I couldn't help but feel a surge of hope as he walked towards me.

"Kayla, I managed to get in touch with the police and help them with the CCTV camera access from the cam," Mark said, a glimmer of accomplishment in his voice.

A smile spread across my face, and I clasped my hands together. "That's incredible, Mark! With those street hooligans caught on camera, we can put an end to their senseless acts and protect innocent people from getting hurt."

As we celebrated this small victory, Mark's expression turned serious. His eyes met mine, and he asked me a question that caught me off guard. "Kayla, do you truly love Logan?"

Without a moment of hesitation, I answered, my voice filled with unwavering conviction. "Yes, Mark, I love Logan with all my heart, body, and soul. He's more than just a person to me; he's the everything I have always wanted in the most beautiful way possible."

Mark's face softened, and he leaned closer, as if to share a secret. "Kayla, Logan is quite complicated. He has a complicated past."

I took a deep breath, meeting Mark's gaze head-on. "Mark, I'm willing to go down any path with Logan. I've never seen him for his past but only for who he is today, the person he has become. Our love transcends any complications because it's rooted in trust and understanding."

I watched as Mark's eyes reflected a mix of emotions. He was torn between his role as my protective brother and his deep friendship with Logan. He nodded slowly, acknowledging the truth in my words. "You're right, Kayla. I know Logan, and he would never do anything to hurt you. I remember how he protected you when we were kids."

Moved by his understanding, I stood up and embraced Mark tightly. It was a moment of shared understanding and acceptance. In that hug, we both knew that we were united in our love for each other and our unwavering belief in Logan.

As we pulled apart, I looked at Mark, a glimmer of gratitude in my eyes. "Thank you, Mark. Thank you for being the protective big brother I need, but also for understanding the depth of my love for Logan."

Mark smiled warmly, his eyes reflecting a newfound appreciation. "You're welcome, Kayla. I'll always be here for you, no matter what. And I can see that Logan is lucky to have you in his life."

I was so happy that Mark and I could finally talk about this, and he is genuinely happy for me.

LOGAN

It's been two weeks since Kayla was discharged from the hospital, and everything felt right; it was like the world was finally smiling at us. Her recovery was beyond miraculous, nothing short of a blessing. She came over to my house, she glowed, and I couldn't help but wonder how I got so lucky to have her in my life.

"I am so glad now that Mark is cool about our relationship; he agreed for me to spend the night here,"

I pulled her into my arms, "Oh, did he?" I teased, kissing her lightly on her forehead.

"Guess what?" I asked her with a trail of excitement in my voice.

"You know I am terrible at guessing, Logan,"

"The police called to inform me today that they had just finished rounding up the last troops of the drug dealing clan, and with the amount of substantial evidence they have against them, they would be locked up for a long time," I beamed with joy, and she kissed me.

"I am so happy to hear that. Finally, everyone around here can rest knowing that they would be locked up behind bars,"

"Yeah,"

I held her tight as we drifted to sleep. She is all I want in my arms.
