His eyes narrow at me. “I said, you’re staying—”
“I’m not,” I say quietly.
Gavan’s jaw grinds.
“I don’t think you heard—”
“You said you wouldn’t force me to do anything.”
He glares at me. “I know what I said.”
“Well then?”
He goes silent for a moment.
“Fine,” he finally mutters. Without another word, he turns and strides out through the door, towel-clad, bristling.
Okay?
I follow him back along the hall and down the stairs. I pick my dress up from where I left it, wrapping it back around myself, feeling his eyes on me.
This is very confusing.
So far as I’ve been able to tell, Gavan’s interest in me, and in this whole arrangement, is purely sexual—mixed with a touch of humiliation when he has me clean his office in my underwear. But now he wants me to sleep over?
It feels like it has to be a trick or a mind game. But if it’s not?
Well then, that’s alarming for a whole load of other reasons.
Because this—this whatever-it-is between us—can’t bethat. Not given who I am, and who he is.
I’m already sleeping with the enemy. I don’t need tosleep overwith him, as well.
“My people will take you home.”
I shiver as I feel his warm breath on the back of my neck. Turning, I flush when I see him towering over me. His hand cups my jaw, a raw darkness in his eyes. And suddenly, he’s kissing me, just as hard and as punishingly as ever.
When he pulls back, I’m tingling all over. And throbbing. Andwet.
And seriously considering asking if Ican, in fact, stay over after all.
“Gavan—”
“Eight o’clock tomorrow morning,” he growls. “Don’t be late.”
Without another word, he turns, strides over to the front door of the penthouse, and holds it open for me.
Yep, that’s my cue.
I simmer as I sit in the back seat of the black Range Rover that takes me home, luxuriating in the soreness and the flickers of heat still throbbing deep inside me.
And wondering just exactly how far down this rabbit hole I’m prepared to fall.
