With my priorities firmly in place, I said, “I’m just going to put the pie in the fridge.”

Rush was looking around my condo, taking it in. “No problem.”

I put the slice of pie safely away, not afraid to eat it for breakfast. I ate on the go a lot, so it wasn’t anything to eat dessert for breakfast or breakfast for dinner. Hell, it wasn’t anything to even forget to eat sometimes.

After saving my dessert for another time, I walked back into the living room, not sure what to do next. Did I make the first move? Did I let him?

Choosing manners over horniness, I asked, “Would you like something to drink?”

“Not really,” he answered, a sexy smirk playing on his lips.

“Rush?”

“Yeah, baby?”

“What are you doing here?” I asked pointedly. “I mean, I remember what you said about coming after me after the audit was completed, but…whatexactlydoes that mean?”

Rush took a couple of measured steps towards me, and I had to crane my neck all the way back to maintain eye contact with those stunning green eyes of his. It was also sexy as hell how much taller he was than me. For better or for worse, I was a traditionalist, and I loved it when the men that I dated were taller than I was. I loved it when they were stronger than I was. I loved everything that made a man a man, and I wasn’t ashamed to admit it.

My breath hitched as Rush placed one of his hands on my hip, then the other around the side of my neck. “It means that you have something that I want, and since I’m a guy used to getting what he wants, I’m not letting you go until I get it,” he answered honestly.

I could feel my shoulders sag.

He just wanted to get laid.

To be fair, though, I also wanted to get laid. So, could I really judge? If nothing else, Rush was being honest, and it was a lot more than most men offered on the first semi-date.

I nodded in understanding. “Okay.”

Rush’s hand tightened around my neck. “I also plan onkeepingit, Landry.”

Oh, my.

Good thing for Rush Crawford that I was perfectly fine with that idea.

Chapter 12

Rush~

Her blue eyes flared at my possessiveness, and that was a good thing when you considered that I planned on being very possessive when it came to this woman.

“You…you do?”

I nodded, my hand on her hip tightening. “Oh, yeah.”

“Are you sure?”

My thumb started lightly running back and forth over her jaw. “Why wouldn’t I, baby?”

“Lots of reasons,” she snorted. “I work crazy hours, hate leaving my house, think people suck, believe in psychic readings, have a serious weakness for margaritas, and well…alcohol in general, and let’s not forget, what you see right now is my regular Friday night outfit.”

God, I was crazy over this beautiful fruit loop.

“Well, if it’s any consolation, I also work crazy hours, though that’s about all I can agree on right now,” I chuckled down at her. “I’m never home, so I’m okay with leaving my house. Granted, a lot of people suck, but I’ve met some really great people during my career. I’ve never had a psychic reading, so I have no opinion on those. As for alcohol, I have nothing against it as long as it’s a pleasure and not a necessity.”

“Well, as long as I’m working for Bryant Stanton, I can assure you that it’s a necessity,” she drawled out dramatically.

I licked my lips to keep from laughing. “Duly noted.” Pulling her closer to me, I said, “As for the way that you look, I think you’re beautiful, no matter what you’ve got going on. I even thought you were beautiful when you woke up in the conference room with a sheet of paper stuck to the side of your face.”
