“Yes.” Lena nodded. “It’s perfect. You’re glowing. You love it and it shows.”

I smiled and smoothed my hand over the shimmery blue fabric. “It is very pretty, but is it appropriate for a wedding?”

“It is,” Caroline answered. “It’s my wedding and I think this is going to look great. I don’t want everyone to look like cookie cutter cutouts. Do you like it?”

“I do.” I nodded.

With their words of encouragement, I began to feel more confident in the dress. I could picture myself walking down the aisle, standing next to them with Luke across the aisle.

“I think you could probably buy it today,” Lena said. “It fits you like a glove. You don’t need any alterations.”

That was a huge relief. Alterations cost money. If I could walk out of the store with the dress and no additional fees, I would be very excited.

“Okay. If you approve, then I will definitely buy it.”

“I approve,” Caroline squealed. “What shoes will you wear?”

“What are you guys wearing?” I asked Julia and Lena.

“Silver,” they answered in unison.

“Then I will find some silver heels,” I replied. I already had a pair that I knew would be perfect with the dress. Yet again, more savings.

“Blue is definitely your color.” Julia smiled. “Very pretty.”

“Alright, I’m going to change,” I said.

I liked Julia and Lena. Caroline was fun, too. They were a little older than I was, but they were cool. I envied their close friendship. I wished I had girlfriends like that. I was very happy to be a part of the bridal party. I felt like I was one of the cool kids.

“Your phone is vibrating,” Caroline called out.

I opened the dressing room door and grabbed it from my purse. It was Luke. My stomach dropped. I didn’t know why I was embarrassed to talk to him. It wasn’t like he knew how I felt. I tossed it back into my purse and quickly put my shoes on.

“Is that your boyfriend?” Julia asked.

“What?”

“Luke,” she said. “Sorry, I couldn’t help but see the screen.”

“Luke?” Caroline asked. “As in Leo’s Luca?”

“Yep.” I nodded.

“Oh, my goodness!” Julia slapped her leg. “You’re Emilia!”

I was confused. I thought they knew who I was. “Yes…”

Lena laughed. “Hello,” she chided her sister. “Who did you think she was?”

“No, no.” Julia shook her head. “I knew who you were, but it just dawned on me you were Luke’s Emmy.”

Just hearing myself referred to like that was a little unnerving. “We’re friends.”

“I heard you were more than friends,” Caroline said.

“What?” I asked with surprise.

“She’s blushing.” Julia smiled. “I would say you were onto something.”
