Page 31 of A Childhood Crush

My heart was pounding in my chest. Her lips were soft, like the petals of a flower, and sweet, like a sugary dessert. Her tongue tasted like the champagne we had both been drinking, a mix of fruit and bubbles. The kiss had started out as chaste and sweet, but it quickly heated up. Her soft, small hands slid down my chest. She caressed my chest, grazing my nipple and sending electricity through me before sliding the dainty hand to the back of my neck.

“Are you sure?” I asked her, my voice thick.

Her greenish eyes took on a life of their own, filled with a raw, unbridled passion. “When have I ever done anything I’m not sure of?” she replied.

Her mouth slammed against mine once again. I pulled her close and deepened the kiss, my hands roaming her body. The sound of the party faded away as we lost ourselves in the heat of the moment. She moaned against my lips, and I knew I wanted her more than anything. I moaned when I felt her hands slide under my shirt, her nails dug into my skin. The taste of her, mixed with the champagne, was intoxicating.

I was hard and ready to take her right there on the terrace. But I couldn’t. We were ten feet away from the party where her father was roaming about. I wasn’t saying no, but I was saying we needed to get a room before we put on one hell of a display.

“Hey,” I said and gently pushed her back an inch or two. “We don’t need to rush this. Let’s go somewhere.”

She pulled away from me, her eyes filled with regret. “I can’t do this,” she whispered, her hand still on my chest.

My heart dropped like a stone. I couldn’t argue with her. She was saying no. I had to leave it alone. “Emmy…” I said softly.

She shook her head and walked back into the party. I couldn’t exactly chase her. I was in a bit of an aroused state. I didn’t want to lead with my dick. That would definitely start rumors. I rubbed a hand over my face and shook my head.

“Stupid, stupid, stupid,” I muttered.

I shouldn’t have let my dick do the talking. It was hard not to want her. She was so fucking sexy. She fell into my arms. She kissed me. She had been ready to fuck me right on the terrace. I had no doubt she wouldn’t have been okay with it. She would have been pissed and hated me. If and when we did take that step, I wanted it to be right. I wanted it to be perfect. I sure as hell didn’t want it in front of an audience.

I collected myself and walked back into the party. I scanned the crowd in search of Emmy. I didn’t see her. I spotted Leo and made my way over to him. “Have you seen Emmy?” I asked.

“You mean since she rushed out of here with her face flushed and her lips swollen?” he asked with his brow raised.

“Don’t…” I warned.

“Your shirt’s unbuttoned,” he said with a chuckle.

I looked down and realized my shirt was unbuttoned in the middle. “Thanks.” I quickly fixed it.

“What the hell were you doing out there?” he asked. “Joey is here.”

“I know,” I said.

“That was ballsy.”

“We didn’t do anything,” I lied.

“Your hair is messy. Your shirt is half untucked and you look guilty as sin. I would say you definitely did something.”

“Did she look upset when you saw her?” I asked.

“She looked flustered.” He shrugged. “Like a girl who’d just gotten felt up.”

“Stop.” I frowned. “Don’t cheapen it.”

“What exactly happened out there?” he asked.

“I don’t know.” I sighed. “We kissed.”

He smirked. “Yeah, I would say there was a little more than a kiss that happened.”

“Things got out of hand,” I admitted. “I told her we needed to slow down. She didn’t appreciate it. She stormed back in here. I need to talk to her. I think she thinks I didn’t want it. I did. I do. But we weren’t exactly private. If we had been anywhere else, I would have taken her up on the offer.”

“Does that mean you finally told her how you felt about her?”

“Hell no,” I scoffed. “We didn’t get that far. She got in a fight with her father. I went out to talk to her and one thing led to another.”
