I walk over to open my front door. “Thanks for last night, Mads. Be safe, okay?”

“Anytime,” she says blandly as she walks out the door.

I breathe a sigh of relief when she’s out of my space.

Unable to keep my mind from running wild, I pace the floor with thoughts of telling Sloan.

I need to get myself together before I talk to her. There is no way I’m taking a chance on her thinking there was more to it, so I want to explain everything about the night before she jumps to conclusions.

So much of our history and us not being together involves Maddie.

I am so fucking mad with myself that this situation is even an issue right now.

Realizing I never heard back from her last night, I shoot off a text.

Me: Good Morning Thea. Did you have a good night? Sorry I tried keeping up with Eli last night, so needless to say my drunk ass came home and passed out.

I’ll explain everything else later when we can talk.

Desperately needing to brush my teeth and shower, I head to my bathroom.

After a long shower, my mind feels much clearer. Checking my phone, I notice there’s still nothing from Sloan.

Throwing some clothes on before I try to call her again, my phone starts to ring.

The name Quinnie on my screen surprises me.Fuck, is something wrong?

“Hey Q. Everything okay? Is Sloan okay?” I say frantically.

“I don’t know Wes, you tell me. What the fuck were you thinking?” she responds aggressively.

“What do you mean, Quinn?” Taken back her hostility.

“Did Maddie spend the night with you last night?”

That question has ice flying through my veins.

“How did you find out? Does Sloan know?” I let out a guttural ‘fuuuck’ at the thought.

“The more important question is WHAT. THE. FUCK. was she doing at your place to start with Wes?”

“Q… you know me better than that. I have wanted this for too long. So, whatever you’re thinking right now… don’t.” I say in a plea.

“Well, I’m not the one you need to convince.” She pauses before shocking me with her next comment. “Your girlfriend is the one who saw her sister leave your place super early this morning… while wearingyourshirt.”

“Fuck… fuck, fuck.”

“Q, I swear she helped get my drunk ass home last night after Eli bailed on us. Nothing happened… well, other than me hurting her feelings because I blamed her for my almost decade of loneliness in my drunken state.”

Quinn breathes out a sigh of relief, finally hearing me.

“Wait, Eli bailed on you?Oh shit, I just assumed he went to her.“You know what? Fuck him too. This isn’t about me… it's about Lo. And you better fix this, Zeus.”

I exhale the breath I was holding, thankful she isn’t asking me more questions about Eli.

“Do you know where she is?” I have to get to her. I hate the fact she is hurting right now and thinking I could ever do that.

“No, she was so upset she hung up before I could get her to tell me. I begged her to let me come to her, but she said no… that she needed to figure this out on her own.”
