“Put me down, idiot! You’re making a scene,” Avery hissed as members jeered them.

“Don’t women swoon at stuff like this?” Sonny asked as she wrapped her arms around his neck and held on tightly.

“No. I’d rather you throw me over your shoulder like last time.”

She knew the second the comment left her mouth that it was a mistake.

Next thing she knew she was over his shoulder and staring at his butt.

Well, maybe there were some perks to being manhandled. She smacked his ass hard and heard laughter all around her.

“Get a room!” Someone yelled out.

Avery was pretty sure it was her brother, Jesse.

Sonny finally dropped her to the ground when he stepped inside the barn but held onto her hand as they walked over to the bar. The music cranked up and members were grabbing beer from the fridge. Dante slid around behind the bar and pulled out a bottle of what looked like whiskey along with two glasses.

“New member gets the first drink. But you gotta finish the bottle, that’s the rules,” Dante quipped as he poured a generous glass and placed it in front of Avery.

“I’m gonna be shitfaced by the time that happens,” Avery replied.

She downed the drink in one gulp.

“That’s the plan,” Dante winked and poured another, placing it in front of Sonny. “Maybe your boyfriend here can help you out by drinking a few rounds with you. I won’t tell.”

Sonny downed his glass the same way. Another two glasses were poured and this time, Avery raised hers in salute to Sonny. His rare smile appeared again, and Avery was a goner.

Dante slid onto the bar and stood up. “Look at this, guys, Sonny knows how to smile!”

Sonny gave him a middle finger, then leaned over to Avery to give her a kiss.

“Let’s drink this bottle as fast as we can and get the hell back to my place,” Sonny whispered.

Avery smiled in return. “I like this plan.”

A half hour later, the bottle was empty, and the crowd was louder than ever. Avery was tipsy but not falling over. Sonny on the other hand…She’d never seen him like this. Ever.

“You’re a witch,” Sonny told her as he stood up, swaying like he might topple over any minute. “You know that right? You’ve totally put some…some kinda spell on me. Made me feel…I have feelings. I still can’t believe it.”

Avery smiled. “You and me both, hot stuff. Now come on, it’s time for bed.”

“Yes,” Sonny mumbled and held up a finger. “But first, I have to do this.”

Then he proceeded to tumble over, falling flat on his face.

“Dante!” Avery yelled as she tried to turn Sonny over.

But Sonny was a big man, and she could barely move him. “Help me get my man back over to his cottage.”

“You got it.” Dante smiled as he slid one arm around Sonny and hauled him upright. “How come you’re still lucid after all that alcohol?”

“I have a high tolerance. One more drink and I’ll join this guy.”

Avery pointed to Sonny as she slid one arm around his waist. Her and Dante dragged Sonny to the ATV. Once Sonny was seated, Dante hopped in the driver’s seat. Five minutes later, they pulled up to his cottage.

“Are you real?” Sonny asked as he pointed at her.

Dante chuckled as he hopped off the ATV and helped Sonny up the front steps.
