Polly: Get to my office party ASAP. I need your help figuring out how to have a public breakup.

Chelsea: I’ll be there in twenty mins. HEHE. This is going to be fun.

“Everything okay, Polly?” Travis gave me a questioning look as I typed furiously on my phone.

“Huh?”

“We’re on the floor,” Travis said slowly, nodding to the open door. “Ladies first.”

“Oh, thanks,” I said, smiling weakly as I made my way out of the elevator.

“Come on, babe.” Ben’s right hand was now resting on my ass, and it took everything in me to not hit it away from me. He was really taking advantage of this situation. I was going to have fun breaking up with him. I moved faster toward the party room and almost ran into Natasha’s arms as she walked toward me.

“Hey, thank God you’re here,” I whispered to her as I took the drink from her hand and gulped before handing it back. “This is a nightmare.”

“What happened?” Natasha looked confused, but I saw her eyes widening as Ben came up to me.

“Hey, hey,” he said as he looked at Natasha. “I’m Ben, Polly’s boyfriend.”

“The surfer?” Natasha’s tone was disbelieving. She’d seen the photos from his profile as well. This man was not the Ben we’d expected to arrive. “That just moved here from Hawaii.”

“Yeah, man, hang ten, dude.” Ben grinned. “I see Polly has told you about me.”

“Yeah, she has.” Natasha frowned. “You don’t look like your photos.”

“Not a problem, man.” Ben shook his head. “Polly and I are cool.”

“How old are you?” Natasha’s eyes narrowed as she interrogated him. This was why she was going to be an attorney.

“Fifty-two.” He shrugged. “Why?”

“Because your profile said you were—”

“Hey, Polly, Ben, you made it up to the party.” Max joined our little group and grinned. “You need a drink or anything?”

“I thought no one was going to ask.” Ben look relieved. “I was like, what sort of fancy law firm doesn’t have booze? Only a cheap one. Am I right?”

“The bar is over there.” Natasha pointed it out to him. “Why don’t you go and get yourself a drink?”

“Right on,” Ben said and wrapped his arm around my waist. “What do you want, sexy? Aside from me?”

“A vodka Sprite, please.” I tried not to slap him as he leaned down for a kiss. I moved my face to the side so that he was kissing my cheek, and I could see Max smiling at us.

“You got it, babe.” Ben stepped back. “I’ll be right back.”

“Well, look at you two lovebirds,” Max said after Ben walked away. “I can see why you love him.”

“You can?” I asked in disbelief and then cleared my throat. “Yeah, of course you can.”

“Do you think he’ll propose soon?” Max asked. “Are you guys going to start a family soon?”

“Well, I don’t know,” I mumbled.

“I mean, with all that morning nooky, seems like you’re on the way to getting knocked up.” Max winked and then chuckled. “I’m glad you have found your true love. Not all of us are so lucky.”

“Yeah, well. Sometimes it just happens,” I said weakly.

“You seem like a perfect match,” he said, looking me up and down.
