She nodded.

Maura needed to talk to Elizabeth.

“MATE, can you patch me in to Elizabeth?” she asked, not wanting to turn on her phone. They all had them off so they were not disturbed.

“I can do that.”

They heard ringing in their ears.

Literally.

A phone ringing.

“Yo,” she said as soon as she answered.

“I found some shit.”

“What?”

She told her.

When she was done, Elizabeth whistled.

“I have a question.”

“Sure, what?” Elizabeth asked.

“When did Artemis appear on the radar in New Orleans?” she asked.

“Before El Gato made landfall.”

Maura was paranoid because that was her job, but now, she had that feeling.

“We were ratted out to El Gato, and we assumed he saw us on the news getting married. You know since Jagger is Mikey O’.”

“Yes?”

“What if El Gato had someone feeding him CIA intel. There were files on us. He knew we helped kill his wife and daughter. We assumed it was Viper who had the files. How did she get them?”

Elizabeth was honest.

“We assumed military contacts.”

Not quite.

It was worse.

“Elizabeth, someone in the CIA has been giving her information. That’s the only way. Artemis had to have gone through Remmy’s wallet and found the ONE item that tied him to Karen and Kelsy. Jinx saw it. It was a picture at a fair. That’s how they found his wife and kid. Artemis sold him out. She drugged him, likely with Addiction, assaulted him, and then told El Gato about it.”

Jesus.

H.

Christ.

She hated Artemis for nearly costing Chris his life, but now, she really didn’t like the woman.

“He carried a picture?”
