“I can’t do this again. I said that with Michael, and now, I’m going to be a nervous fucking wreck all over again. I can’t do it, Mar.”
She held him.
Her lips were by his ear.
“Okay. Then we’re done.”
He didn’t move.
“I will say one thing though,” she stated. “Take it for what it’s worth.”
He lifted his head.
There were tears in his eyes.
“What?” he asked.
“I’m still going to expect you to hump me, Mr. Moose,” she said.
Jagger wasn’t expecting that.
He’d really believed she would try to talk him out of it, which was what he didn’t want her to do.
There was no choice.
He laughed.
“Mr. Moose won’t stop that, Baby. I’m insatiable,” he admitted.
She kissed him.
For that full moment, she offered him peace. When she broke the kiss, she touched his freckled cheek with her warm palm.
“I’ll do whatever you need me to do, Jagger, but know that I’m able to keep myself safe. I wouldn’t risk our children.”
He was aware.
Only, he was scared.
This time, he was so terrified, he would stop having kids when he loved their babies. He loved watching Dianna fawn over her baby brother, and he wanted a sister for her in the worst way.
Then a brother for Michael to help carry the burden his life put on him.
One day, there would be no father in their life when his time was over on the earth.
His children would be forced to carry the name.

“I know. I’m sorry.”
She kissed him.
When she pulled away, she smiled at him.
“You’re the handsomest man I’ve ever seen,” she said. “I hope this baby has your red hair too.”
He sighed.
