Time.

Would.

Tell.

The boss wanted him handled because years ago, he’d handled something that he had no business touching. Like the attorney, this was about retribution and payback on a much bigger level.

They were both good guys, doing their job to the letter of the law—mostly. They let something be buried, thanks to the government, and that was going to cost them.

Payback was a bitch.

For them.

Mr. Police Commissioner was about to rue the day he decided to be a decent citizen and turn his head for the government to do its dirty deeds.

Bet on it.

Sitting outside his home, they watched as his car pulled up, and his wife was in the passenger side of the vehicle.

Oh, she was pretty.

That only sweetened the pot. While their boss wanted both people, they were only being paid for the man. The woman…like the college co-ed, was icing on the cupcake. That was a bonus to them.

Since Mikey O’ had shut down trafficking, and sexual slavery in the city, they had no choice but to try and get women the old-fashioned way.

Hookers.

And most of them…were gross.

So, their payout was on the way.

They waited not far from the man’s home, ready to grab them both.

Carefully.

He was armed.

“We move fast, and we grab them for the boss before they make it into the house,” he stated.

That seemed to work for them.

As the car came to a stop, and they parked, it was almost time.

“Get ready.”

Pulling down their masks, they got in position to do the job. They wanted their paychecks, and if they dropped the ball, there wouldn’t be money to pay the bills.

Sometimes, a killer had to do what a killer had to do.

Going at a cop?

Stupid.

Going at a cop in the middle of the day?

INSANITY.

Only, desperate times called for desperate measures.
