“That sounds perfect, Mr. Friedman. Thank you for your kindness.”

“Please, call me Angelo. Everybody does,” Angelo said and patted Aiden on the back.

Aiden’s body stiffened at the touch and Sienna could see the struggle to keep his face neutral. He didn’t like being touched without his consent and judging by the subtle way his hands clenched into fists, Sienna knew he was itching to punch Angelo’s face.

The servant waited for them to follow and as Sienna went after her, from the corner of her eye, she saw Yvonne giving Aiden a wink. She quickened her pace up the stairs and walked down the hallway followed by the echoing sound of her clicking heels. Aiden and Brian were right behind her, no one saying a word because they were afraid to be overheard.

“Mr. Carrington, this is your room,” the servant said, stopping in front of one door.

“Where will they be staying?” Aiden asked her.

“Right down the hall,” she replied. “They have adjoining rooms.”

Aiden’s brows shot up. “Why?”

“Because he’s here to protect her?”

Sienna rolled her eyes and stepped between them. “That’s very smart and thoughtful. Can we go to our rooms please?”

The servant nodded eagerly and moved on three doors down the hall. Sienna entered her room, hoping that its design wasn’t as obnoxious as the rest of the house. The hallway that they walked on had a row of taxidermy animals on the wall and she couldn’t wait to get away. The house’s decoration had no connecting theme, with certain areas looking like a hunting cabin while the others appeared as if Blackbeard vomited his stolen treasures from all over the world.

Taking a deep breath, she looked inside the room and found it full of flowers. They were everywhere. The wallpaper had flowers on it, the bedding had the flowery design, the intricate carvings on the furniture were of flowers and the vases had flowers both on them and in them.

“Fuck,” Sienna muttered under her breath.

She walked to the bed and threw herself on it, only to find out that it even smelled like flowers. As her body sank into the mattress, she closed her eyes and banished every single thought, turning her focus on the present.

Her head rested on the pillow and her neck was slightly turned down, so her chin was against her chest. In her mind, she trailed the path of her arms that were at her side on the soft blanket. One of her legs was up on the bed, while the other was swinging on the side of it. Her feet were throbbing in a pain that she was long used to from wearing heels.

She took a deep breath, inhaling the smell of flowers, then focused on the sounds. There was a scraping sound from behind her, as if someone was running their nails down the wall, and she clenched her toes, praying that there weren’t rats in the walls.

The door next to her bed opened with a loud creak and Sienna jumped up in alarm, her Zen state forgotten.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, it’s just me. No need to break my nose again,” Aiden said with his hands up in surrender, and only then Sienna noticed she was holding a bedside lamp that was shaped like a rose.

Sheepishly, Sienna put it back, then narrowed her eyes at Aiden. “What are you doing here? Isn’t that Brian’s room?”

“Would you prefer to see him walk in instead of me?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. I’m just asking what you’re doing in his room.”

“It’s my room now. We changed them,” he explained and joined her on the bed. His fingers touched her leg, slowly sliding higher. “If I remember correctly, we have unfinished business to tend to.”

“We have to get ready for dinner,” Sienna reminded him and smacked off his hand, then got up to get some distance between them.

“Are you upset with me?”

“No.”

“Yes, you are,” he insisted and walked up to her. “What’s going on?”

“Your behavior is compromising our mission.”

“My behavior?”

“Yes! Haven’t you seen the way Willie looked when you started flirting with Yvonne? You better keep it in your pants, or we’re done here,” she warned with a low voice.

Aiden put his hands around her and pulled her closer against his chest. He looked her in her face with a ghost of a smile on his lips.
