Yvonne’s face turned red as she fumed, giving Sienna no doubts that she’d made an enemy out of her.

Angelo ended up speaking through the rest of the dinner, telling them dull anecdotes about the bankers, while the rest of them just nodded and made appropriate sounds at the right moments. Sienna didn’t want to try her luck further by angering anyone else. She would keep her tongue and do her best at the party when everyone would be in a better mood. Sun, alcohol, and open sea sounded like heaven right about now.

CHAPTER 5

Itwasabeautifulday to spend on the yacht. The Friedmans and Sienna's party were the last to arrive, and as soon as they boarded, the yacht left the port.

It was a two-story high white beauty with green stripes to the side. The vessel was called Aurora Borealis, but judging by dinner's conversation, Sienna was sure that it didn't have anything to do with the strange phenomenon and everything with Aiden's mother. A thoughtful tribute out in the open for everyone to see, yet subtly disguised as to not be accused of insulting the head of the Carrington family.

The faces of the Friedmans' guests were unknown to Sienna. They were lower on the ladder of the elites, but that didn't make them any less valuable in the war that was looming over all of them.

"What should we do?" Sienna asked Aiden once the Friedmans left them to greet their friends.

Aiden eyed the crowd warily. "Divide and conquer?"

"Okay but be careful how and who you conquer," Sienna warned.

Aiden chuckled. "Jealous much?"

"You wish," Sienna retorted and rolled her eyes.

Without waiting for his reply, she picked a group and went to join them. On the way there, she took a glass of champagne, not bothering to acknowledge the waiter. She felt Brian's eyes on her, but he was nowhere to be seen, showing once again how good he was at his job.

"Hi, mind if I join you?" Sienna asked and batted her eyes at the group of older gentlemen, whose eyes travelled all over her barely covered body in the same way Angelo's did.

"Certainly. Please sit down," one of them said, gesturing to the chair next to him.

"Thank you, but I don't mind standing. Is it okay if I lean here?" Sienna asked and moved to the side of the yacht, making sure to display her long legs.

It took them a while to reply, because they were too busy staring at her and if she didn't know better, she could've sworn they were drooling.

"Of course, just be careful you don't fall over," another warned. "The ocean can be a dangerous adversary."

Sienna fake sighed. "You don't need to tell me about adversary. Right now, I'd just take on about anyone else's plate than my own."

"My name is Winston Blackmill," the first guy introduced himself, then leaned closer, "We saw your press conference and if it helps, we're on your side."

The others nodded in agreement and Sienna looked hopefully at them.

"You are?" she asked, trying to make her voice sounding small. She suspected these guys would like a damsel in distress. "They planted a bomb in my own house and almost killed me."

Winston patted her hand with his chubby fingers that made it seem as if she was being touched by a pig. She struggled not to shiver or move her hand away.

"Whatever you need, you can count on us. The Lockwoods, the Carringtons and the Ryders have our support," he assured her, and the others nodded.

Sienna thanked them and told them how grateful she was. She chatted a bit more, making herself look like a victim, then, in the end, collected their names and statements saying that they support her cause. It was smart to have a written proof as well as knowing the names of the people that were on their side.

Excusing herself from them, she eyed the group of women her age that she decided to leave for Aiden, believing his charm and irresistible smile to have better luck. Instead, she joined women that could've been her mother's age. They were wives of the heads of their families, which meant they had their husbands' ears.

"Hi, ladies. I'm sorry for the interruption but I needed an escape from the shameless staring," Sienna said with a small smile, knowing she hit the right note when they nodded in understanding.

"Some of them can really be disgusting pigs. At least have some sense to try to hide it."

"I hate when they're eye-fucking me."

"You're too old to be eye-fucked, Monica," one of them teased.

Monica shrugged. "Thank God for small mercies."
