She sent a quick message to Adrianna, telling her to come as soon as possible. This time she wanted to look classy and sophisticated, instead of slutty and barely covered like the day before. Adrianna was the only person who could help her achieve that without making it look like she was trying too hard.

It only took her friend five minutes to knock on the door and let herself in. Sienna was still grinning like a fool when Adrianna looked her over and lifted her brow in question.

“Okay, girl. Spill,” her friend said at last. “You better tell me everything because I’m sick and tired of being the last to find things out.”

“You have to promise me not to tell anyone anything,” Sienna said, eager to share it all with her best friend. “Not even a word.”

Adrianna mimicked zipping her mouth and throwing away the key. Sienna was satisfied and invited her to the sofa, figuring she had time for a short talk before going.

“It’s Jensen,” she started, her grin widening. “Ever since Cambridge, he changed and definitely for the better. Yeah, we had our moments before, but sooner or later they turned back to ice as if there was no heat between us in the first place.”

Adrianna snorted. “You must be stupider than you look because even a blind fool can see it.”

“I know, I know,” Sienna agreed. “It’s just that his moods changed so much that I wasn’t sure what I was dealing with until we actually talked.”

“He sounds like a woman in menopause.”

Sienna gave her a sharp look. “Do you want me to tell you or not?”

“Sorry,” Adrianna apologized with a small smile. “Jensen makes me nervous, and I tend to blab when I’m nervous.”

“I know what you mean, but he’s not here now so all you need to do is listen,” Sienna said, and her friend nodded. “Anyway, I got to know him better and got an insight into his past. I don’t know what you know about it, but he’s been through a lot, and it explains why he acts the way he does.”

“There were some rumors going around, but we never prodded because what we heard was hard enough.”

Sienna nodded. “Yeah, it’s a horrific thing to deal with at such a young age. Anyway, he and I have been growing closer and today he even went on one knee in front of everyone—”

“OMG! ARE YOU TWO GETTING MARRIED?” Adrianna cried out, jumping on her feet, and clapped.

Sienna shook her head and grabbed her hand, pulling her back down. “No, you idiot and you’d know that if you’d let me finish.”

“Sorry.”

Sienna rolled her eyes but smiled. Adrianna was crazy but she was her friend, and Sienna couldn’t deny her enthusiasm.

“It was a big moment at breakfast,” Sienna continued, “We’ve created an allegiance between the Lockwoods, Carringtons, and Ryders. It was historic and it was started by Jensen, who went on his knee to promise me that the Carringtons will stand by the Ryder’s side. It was touching and powerful.”

Adrianna fanned her eyes and blinked rapidly to prevent the tears from falling. “I can’t believe it. Saint fucking Jensen.”

Sienna smiled, then reached into her pocket and brought out a note. She handed it to Adrianna to read, studying her face as she took in word by word.

“What does he mean by special day?” Adrianna asked, focusing on the first part.

Sienna gave an embarrassed shrug. “It’s my birthday.”

Adrianna’s head snapped up, and her mouth fell open. She shook her head in disbelief. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It’s nothing. There are other things that are more important than that,” Sienna said, trying to move on. “Just forget about it, okay?”

Adrianna’s eyes narrowed but she nodded. “For now.”

Sienna let out a small breath, relieved that she didn’t need to deal with it now. “Will you help me get ready?”

“On your special day to make him the happiest man alive?” Adrianna asked, her lips curling up into a wide smile. “Hell yes, I will!”

“But remember, you can’t say a word to anyone. It’s a secret. Especially about my birthday,” Sienna said with a stern voice. “Promise me.”

Adrianna nodded. “I promise.”
