“Well, I am glad to see that you were able to crawl from up under that fine-ass man and come see your friend,” Shannon says when she finds me at her door.

“Hush,” I say, blushing and holding up the takeout I got for us on my way to her house.

“So, are you just scratching an itch, or is this serious?”

“You remember my first night back at the club and said I thought I saw Kruze?” I ask as we plate our food, grab drinks and sit down to eat.

“Yeah?”

“I did see him.”

“So, wait, he’s a Dom?”

“And is!”

“Well, look at you! That’s probably why you were so attracted to him.”

“You know what, you are probably right. We’re also doing the relationship thing too!”

“Uh oh! Okay now! I am happy for you, sis. I almost asked if he has a brother, but I already met that jackass, and I’ll pass.”

“We were at dinner the other night and ran into his original Sub. She tried to make me feel bad because she is a size negative two, and I am over here a solid eighteen/twenty. I laughed in her face.”

“Okay, but she must have said something that got to you, so what is it?”

“She brought up the fact that he hasn’t presented me with a collar yet. We have exchanged keys to each other’s house, have sex without a condom, and we are almost to our three-month contract term, but he still has not given me a collar. I know I shouldn’t feel this insecure about it, but I fucked up, Shannon.”

“What do you mean you fucked up?”

“I love him. I am in love with him. If this ends between us, I am going to have to move in here because I will be devastated.”

“Sis, talk to him.”

“No, not about this. It is the same as a woman trying to talk a man into buying her an engagement ring. I will not do it.”

“Don’t worry about it, I’ll talk to him. He is not gonna have my sis, my best friend, out here questioning where she stands with him.”

“Please don’t,” I say, laughing.

“Girl, I am so serious,”

“I know you are, but let's let this play out. You cannot tell me I am not the most important thing to him when I am with him. You cannot convince me he is not in love with me, but I refuse to act like an insecure woman forcing him into something he does not want,”

“But,”

“No buts, Shannon. Promise me,” I tell her, looking at her to let her see how serious I am.

“Okay, I promise I will not say anything right now, but after your three months is up, and he hasn’t put a collar on it, all bets are off,”

“Fine,” I say, knowing that’s the best I am going to get out of this loose cannon. We finish our food while catching up until it’s time for me to head home.

Kruze

There has been a change in Trinitee, and I know it has something to do with whatever Beth Ann said to her that night at the restaurant. I have asked her several times, and she shrugs it off, saying nothing each time. It has frustrated me to the point of wanting to punish her for lying to me, but I want her to come to me on her own. It worries me that in some way, I have failed to create a safe enough space for her to feel comfortable enough to come to me with whatever is bothering her. We are fast approaching our three-month deadline, and I know where I want to take things, but for the first time, I worry that she and I are not on the same page.

“What’s got that look on your face?” Legend asks.

“I’m just trying to figure out a problem, and it’s turning out to be harder than I thought it would be.”
