31 – YESENIA

“Where are we going?” I ask as he holds my hand, escorting me onto the private plane.

“It’s a surprise,” he says, smirking.

Laughing, I say, “The last time you surprised me on a date, I didn’t return home until almost a week later. I flew in a helicopter, traveled past two other states, and returned home by yacht.”

“Are you having doubts?”

“No.”

“Good. Because the last thing I heard you say was take me with you...wherever that might be.”

We greet the pilot and the airline attendant before heading further into the plane.

“To impress is my aim,” he says in a dark voice as we sit.

“You definitely impressed me, Mr. Maxwell.”

“Good.”

“My staff loved the lunch you provided today. Although everyone recognized it as a ploy to get on their boss’s good side. They wondered what you had done so badly that warranted all those roses and lunch.”

Laughing, he says, “They don’t really want to know.”

The attendant returns to ask if we’d like anything to drink and notify us that we will take off in just a minute.

“Still aren’t going to tell me?”

“You’ll see soon enough,” he says.

I nod and sit back and buckle my seatbelt.

“You know, I feel I should have packed a bag.”

“Why? Everything that you’ll need will be provided.”

“Yes, but sometimes a girl would like to have a say in what she will wear.”

“And if she’s wearing nothing at all?”

“Kincaid! Slow?”
