“I’m surprised you haven’t figured that out yet, Mr. Maxwell. You seem to have an answer for everything.”

He smiles darkly at me and removes the lid of the first platter, the second, and the third.

Laughing, I say, “Okay, maybe I shouldn’t have underestimated you.”

We’re being served sub sandwiches, kettle chips, and a mixture of passion fruit, dragon fruit, pineapple guava, jack fruit, and starfruit.

I watch as he pours us both a glass of wine.

“I’m impressed, Mr. Maxwell. I never expected you to be a romantic,” I say, accepting my glass from his hand.

“I’m not, but for you, I can be anything you need me to be.”

“I simply want you to be you, Cade. I’ve gotten to know every aspect of you. That’s who I’ve fallen in love with.”

His eyes darken, and he leans close, removing my glass from my hand. He gulps down my wine and sets the glass to the side.

One warm hand cups my neck as he leans in and pulls me close simultaneously. I feel the heat from his mouth as he licks around my lips, and then his tongue presses its way inside as I open my mouth for him to explore.

Our kiss is soft and gentle but grows in intensity. The moans of our kiss rival the soft hum of the plane as we soar over the land. I have no idea where we’re going and don’t care, but to be here with him like this is everything I want and need and more.

“WHO’S GOING TO EATall of this, Cade?”

We only arrived here in Fiji an hour ago. After we ate on the plane, Cade noticed how sleepy I was and escorted me back into the plane’s sleeping quarters. I slept most of the fifteen-hour trip here. Something I really needed.

When we arrived at our villa, I had just enough time to shower and change into the silk romper and sandals Cade had laid out on the bed for me after my shower.

He’s such a thoughtful man and truly makes sure to have everything I need on these spur-of-the-moment multi-day dates.

After showering and changing, he said it was time for breakfast, and we headed out to the back of our villa, where breakfast awaited us on the lanai.

Tiki torches are lit on the sides of the infinity pool, and lanterns hang over our heads. The table is set with Belgian waffles, baked caramel-banana French toast, shrimp étouffée, eggs benedict, home fries, sausage, bacon, guava, coconut, papaya, bananas, pineapples, and vakalavalava a dessert made of shredded coconut, freshly grated cassava, sugar, and butter.

“Eat what you can. We can always come back for more. I figured you’d be hungry by the time we landed, and I wanted to deny you nothing.”

“You surely didn’t leave anything out.”

He presses a kiss to my neck.

“Satiate your appetite, my love. You’ll need your strength later,” he whispers, chilling my spine.

This man truly doesn’t believe in taking things “slow.” My goodness!

“You know you’re going to spoil me,” I say as I bite into papaya.

“That’s my intention.”

“I don’t deserve all of this, Cade.”

“You deserve this and so much more.”

My face heats up, and I gaze back at my plate as he stares at me.

“Will every date consist of long-distance travel and days away at a time?”

He caresses my face and says, “It depends.”
