“There’s something. What’s the look for?”

“Sure, this the route you want to take?” Axle asks.

Now is not the time for him to be questioning shit. He’d better pull the trigger and ask questions later. Having Axle doubt me at a time like this isn’t good for any of us, especially not me.

“He tried to kill my brother.”

“But he didn’t.”

“Not for lack of trying,” I argue.

“If he lets this guy go, there’s no way that he won’t go after Ryan again...or the girl,” Toad pitches in.

“I’m with y’all, but the demons are piling up. I’d never forsake you. Just make sure you’re ready to walk down this dark path come hell or fire. Ain’t no backing down once you go down this path. This is just the start.”

“Gotta send a message to these fuckers. Who’s to say they won’t keep gunning for us if we don't?” Snake asks.

“I know you’ve got your demons, bro, same as I’ve got mine. Now ain’t the time or place for this shit. You should’ve made your choices before showing up,” I say, walking closer to my brother. “Sides, I’ve lost count of my demons.”

Lately, Axle has been riding the fence about our lifestyle. He knows the MC is all the family that he’s got, but he’s gotten a conscience when it comes to taking a life. I know it’s because his stepfather killed his mother a couple of months ago.

Murder-suicide, they called it. Ever since then, Axle’s been jittery about killing people. He claims it was karma that took his mother away from here. Wasn’t that bitch, karma at all. It was a doped-up piece of shit about to go to prison for robbing the local liquor store at gunpoint. When the cops came to arrest him, he took both Axle’s mother out and him, selfish muthafucka.

Axle narrows his eyes. “Don’t go there with me, Nitro. I just want you to think about what you’re doing. This won’t stop here. You kill him, then you have to kill everyone related to him and—”

“And he understood that the moment that he stepped into this game!” I snarl, tightening my fists around my chain.

“Same as you,” Axle challenges me.

“Yeah, well, I’m ready to die for what I believe in and for those that I love. Is he ready to do the same is the question.”

Axle pulls a hand over his face and says, “Okay.”

Feeling bad for arguing with him, but at the same time, knowing I’ve made my stance and I’m not backing down, I say, “Just gotta do what I need to do, and I’m making no apologies for that. If that means my soul rots in hell, then that’s the price I’m willing to pay.”

Axle’s eyes narrow but then shoots away as the door opens, and Hurricane, Stitch, and Texas all walk through the doors hauling Cutter between Stitch and Hurricane.

They drag Cutter to stand in front of me, and I stare into the soulless brown eyes of a man who knows tonight will be his last walking this Earth, who knows there’s no reason for his soul to repent.

“I only got one question for you right now. Who fucking sent you?”

He curls his lips down and spits out the side of his mouth, eyeing me the entire time.

“Vete a la mierda!” he spits.

Chuckling, I twist my head and reply, “Fuck me? Fuck me, you say?”

He grabs his crotch and repeats himself. “Vete a la—”

Before he can finish his sentence, I smack the shit out of him.

He laughs and says, “You hit like a bitch.”

I laugh with him, and he looks at my brothers, who’re glaring or scowling and looking between him and me.

“That was a bitch slap,” Toad injects. When I look at him, he shrugs, “Don’t know if it’s because you were slapping a bitch or you just hit like one.”

I turn away from Cutter and quickly spin around, hitting him with an uppercut that causes him to crumple to the floor.
