Maxim just laughs it off, "Nice to meet you, Adalina."

Without a word, I grab Adalina's arm and pull her out of the kitchen. I can't let Maxim get involved with Outfit business. I make a mental not to tell her bodyguards and Osip to keep Maxim far away from her.

I guide Adalina up the grand marble staircase to a corridor lined with ornate doors. My footsteps echo against the polished stone floors, but Adalina's are muffled as she shuffles behind me, her head bowed.

Stopping at a door, I turn the handle and usher her into a lavish bedroom with a four-poster bed and silk drapes. Adalina looks around in awe, but I can tell she's still angry.

"I am locking the door for now. I will send someone up to see to your needs," I say, my voice smooth as silk.

Adalina finally speaks up, her voice trembling. "Nikolai, how long am I going to be here? How long do I have to be your prisoner?"

My face hardens as I face her. "As long as it takes to get what I want," I say, my tone dark and dangerous. With that, I slam the door shut and bolt it from the outside, leaving Adalina alone in the opulent room.

I descend the stairs and make my way to my office. As I wait for the phone call, thoughts of Adalina swirl in my mind. She fucking slapped me! Admirable. I can't help but feel a tiny bit sense of respect for her.

My thoughts drift to her physical appearance. Her striking hazel eyes, the curve of her hourglass figure, and her heart-shaped ass that I couldn't help but notice when she walked into her bedroom. The beige skin-tight outfit she's wearing looks like a second skin, accentuating every curve and line of her body. I can't deny that Adalina is beautiful.

Chapter 16

Nikolai

I stride into my office, my mind racing with dirty thoughts of my prisoner. I would very much enjoy tying her up and dominating her. My thoughts are interrupted by Misha and Tatyana, who are waiting for me.

"Misha, have you sent the email with the picture, video, and my cellphone number?" I inquire.

"Yes, they should be calling in a few minutes," Misha confirms.

“How is the mousey little princess?” Tatyana asks.

Ignoring Tatyana's question, I choose not to respond. Her constant presence is starting to grate on my nerves.

I pull out my phone, waiting for Bobby Vincenzio’s call. As I wait, I decide to give Tatyana a task to keep her busy.

“Tatyana, take Osip up to Adalina’s room and see what she needs – food, clothing, toiletries. Buy her whatever she needs, whatever size she is.” I say, sliding my credit card across the desk.

Tatyana raises an eyebrow. "How much should I spend?"

"As much as you want. She needs enough clothing and supplies to last her a couple of months."

"A couple of months, Nikolai? Really?" Tatyana asks sarcastically.

"Do as I ask, Tatyana," I say sternly.

“She will be the best dressed hostage ever!” Tatyana mutters as she leaves my office.

I lean back in my chair and watch Tatyana's retreating figure. I wonder what Adalina is thinking about. Does she still hate me? Is she afraid of me? Probably both. I shake my head to clear my thoughts and focus on work. I have bigger problems to deal with than my lovely captive=

“Tatyana is jealous.” Misha states interrupting my thoughts.

“I have no interest in Tatyana, she knows that. I haven't any interest in any woman. I don’t do relationships.” I reply.

“I don’t think it’s just about romantic interest,” Misha replies. “Tatyana is jealous of Adalina. She sees how much attention you’re giving her and it’s making her feel neglected.”

I roll my eyes. “Tatyana needs to understand that Adalina is important to my plan. She’s just a means to an end.”

“But you can’t deny that Adalina is different from the other women you’ve dealt with,” Misha says, a hint of amusement in his voice. “She’s brave, spirited, and she’s not afraid to stand up to you.”

I shrug. “She’s a pawn in a game, Misha. That’s all she is to me.” But as I say the words, I can’t help but feel that gnawing in my gut again.
